Badass Rap

I know most metal heads have some sort of issue with rap, probably because it's a genre where most of the melody comes from voice, not instruments. But I'm totally cool with it, I'm sure being a novice rapper helps.

Started listening to Hopsin for the first time, ill shit!

Carpe:
Not gonna post youtube links since I am lazy right now.

For the fuck of it, my top 10 favourite albums in the genre.

MF DOOM's Operation: Doomsday
Wu-Tang Clan's Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)
Gang Starr's Hard To Earn
Raekwon's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Lord Finesse & DJ Mike Smooth's Funky Technician
Jeru The Damaja's The Sun Rises In The East
Digable Planets' Blowout Comb
Jedi Mind Tricks' The Psycho-Social, Chemical, Biological & Electro-Magnetic Manipulation of Human Consciousness
Redman's Dare Iz A Darkside
dälek's From Filthy Tongue Of Gods And Griots

I'm sure being a novice rapper helps.

Missed that part before, please elaborate?

As irony would have it I live near Detroit and associate with a lot of battle rappers. I get drunk and battle them sometimes. Takes people off guard when a white girl dressed like a teenage boy can actually rhyme halfway decently.

Cool list. There's a few there I'll be checking out. I only own Dare Iz A Darkside and 36 Chambers off it. Got a couple of dälek albums that aren't that one. I always wanted to get into Digable Planets after seeing some awesome live stuff on tv but could never find an album I liked. Need to get into some Gang Starr.

I can't do ten so I'm doing twenty:

De La Soul - Stakes is High
Beastie Boys - Ill Communication
Dr Octagon - Dr Octagonecologyst
The Pharcyde - Labcabincalifornia
Cut Chemist - The Litmus Test
Def Squad - El Niño
Wu-Tang - 36 Chambers
RUN DMC - Tougher Than Leather
Jurassic 5 - Power In Numbers
Busta Rhymes - When Disaster Strikes
Cypress Hill - Cypress Hill
GZA - Liquid Swords
Fugees - The Score
ODB - Nigga Please

I just noticed the full Cenobites album is on youtube. Super rare. I'd love a copy but the few copies around are stupid expensive.

I finally picked up the second Czarface album, it's as good as I expected it to be. Inspectah Deck is the most valuable Wu-Tang Clan member right now if you ask me.
