New Amorphis album

the solo of Shades of Grey really reminds me of the melody in Days of Your Beliefs.

Well, these three riffs are all slightly similar to each other, built around the A minor scale and starting from the same A (strictly speaking, that would be G, but the guitar is tuned down). The number of notes in western tonality is limited after all, even Amorphis can't get around that fact. Although in their case, the only instance of near-repetition that really took me a while to get over was Her Alone, since the Smoke riff is one of the most prominent on Eclipse and there was such little time between the two albums.
