Painted in Exile, finally releasing their debut album

Been following the lads since 2009 when they released an amazing EP title Revitalized. Huge amounts of buzz around these guys at the time, however the promised debut album simply never came as the band went through some pretty drastic line-up changes. But finally its happening, the self titled...

    Arcane calls it quits

From their Facebook page: ANNOUNCEMENT: END OF AN ERA It is with sad but hopeful hearts that we must announce that Arcane, our beautiful baby, our first and foremost project, must come to an end. For the founding members that remain, it has been a long, arduous, and rewarding 10 year musical...

    New Dream Theater

Thoughts? I like it a lot but its hard to really judge it properly as its a concept album, the context is an important thing we just don't get from an isolated track like this. Helevorn - Compassion Forlorn (for doom metal fans)

A recent discovery for me, Spanish band Helevorn. Released their third album Compassion Forlorn late last year. Its amazing melodic death doom, best way to describe them would be as a more accessible version of the legendary Saturnus.

ex Opeth drummer Martin Lopez band, Soen

Soen's new album Tellurian for me is one of the years best albums. Their first album was good, band really showcased their Tool worship. But on this album they've mostly broken away from that and delivered some very classy prog. Would recommend for fans of Katatonia.

    Port Noir

Saw clips of this band Port Noir posted a couple times in the song of the week thread, but I think these guys really deserve their own thread. What a voice! Their debut album Puls kicks so much arse and I highly recommend it to any prog fan.
