    Glenn's Top 50 of 2023

Gotta say, I'm digging the abbreviated format this year. Makes the stuff I'm interested in checking out stand out a bit more and there's a lot of it. Pleasantly surprised at HMLTD popping up here!

    Artmore problems?

I believe they're under new management and are doing renovations. They're completely closed during ProgPower this year.

    Day 1 Roster Change!

Saw them a few weeks ago for what I think was their second ever live show. I was shocked by how much they kicked ass. Singer and keyboard player in particular had really fun stage presence. They're gonna kill it! Everyone needs to check these guys out.

    About those PPUSA burritos

I'm so sorry brother, but they're gone too :'( I think the best spots for a quick lunch near the venue now are DaVinci's and there's a Whole Foods a bit further away.

    Top 50 of 2017

Like a lot of people here, I'm pretty surprised at the lack of In the Passing Light of Day. Big find for me here looks like its going to be Mother of Millions, that song is awesome. Zaius sounds pretty sweet, too. Not sure how I feel about Beast in Black but holy shit that singer. I don't...

Trad/Power bands yet to play the fest I'd love to see.

Lost Horizon if we're allowed inactive bands. Heavenly is the other major one I'd kill to see.

Artificial Language - The Observer (FFO: Native Construct, Haken)

So this is a sweet little album that I think deserves way more attention that it's getting. It's very much in the quirky modern prog metal style that Native Construct and Haken are doing right now, but with a bigger emphasis on neoclassical shred. I think it's pretty damn good! Whole album is...

    Port Noir

Is there confirmation of this? I saw one venue list them but I have a strong suspicion that it's a mistake. I think Oceans of Slumber is actually the support act.

Hemina - Synthetic: Excellent new warm & fuzzy prog metal

Venus is a god damn monster of an album. Just non-stop killer grooves and melodies for over 80 minutes.

    The Mercury Tree (prog rock)

I love the hell out of the new album. Top ten for sure and it might even be top five.

    My Top 50 of 2016

Stuff I'll definitely be checking out from here: Southern Empire, Fractal Cyber, Utopia, Allegaeon I'm excited, my years been filled with way too much mellow prog rock and not enough high energy prog metal.

ProgPower USA XVIII Days 1 & 2: First Band Announced!

I've always wondered what bands like BTBAM think of the festival, so that's pretty bad ass. If the facebook comments are any indication, this looks to be really mutually beneficial. No doubt they'll sell tickets and it already seems like a lot of prog fans that wrote them off are giving them...

Disillusion's new single ALEA is out

And it might end up being my favorite song of the year. Holy shit is this good stuff.

Pain of Salvation - In The Passing Light Of Day

Legitimately the best 33 seconds I've ever heard.

ProgPower USA XVIII Days 1 & 2: First Band Announced!

Man, that'd be so cool. iamthemorning especially is something that would be totally out of left field and kill it. I think guys like Agent Fresco, 3, or Vennart would actually be perfect openers on Haken's night since they likely share a lot of the same younger prog audience.

    Prog Power XVII Hype Thread

What band are you looking forward to most? Fates Warning. Seeing John Arch is one of the few things left on my live music bucket list so I'm as stoked as it can get for this. Which band has surprised you most in you pre PP prep? Modern Scar Symmetry actually being pretty sick. I totally wrote...

Came up with this as a roster: Katatonia Vektor Myrath Cain's Offering The Paralydium Project Ancient Bards Edguy Diablo Swing Orchestra Psychotic Waltz Caligula's Horse Hammers of Misfortune Sunburst There's like a million different directions for every slot, but I couldn't think of ANY...
