Gates Of Winter: Lux Aeterna

Und noch ein großartiges Debüt, dieses Mal zur Abwechslung wieder aus kanadischen Gefilden. Gates Of Winter haben sich nach zwei Demos ein Herz gefasst und ein aufmachungstechnisch einwandfreies Debüt selbst finanziert aufgenommen. Cover, Booklet und das ganze Drumherum genügen auf jeden Fall professionellen Ansprüchen (eine Plattenfrma bräuchte das Teil nur noch zu lizensieren), doch das Wichtigste stimmt gottseidank auch. Musikalisch spielt man progressiv angehauchten Metal, der besonders durch zwei Merkmale hervorsticht. Da wären zum einen die spannenden Songaufbauten mit zwar ständig präsenten, symphonischen Keyboards, die jedoch die zum Metal wie die Luft zum Atmen gehörenden Gitarren nie komplett zukleistern. Gitarrenpower gibt es vom Duo Maines/Belleau also reichlich. Der zweite Grund, warum mit "Lux Aeterna" hervorragend reinläuft ist die Stimme des Frontmannes Lee Maines (richtig, der zwei Zeilen weiter oben schon gitarrentechnisch Erwähnung fand). Er hat mal KEINE Heldentenorstimme, sondern eine kraftvolle, tiefe Stimmlage, die mal an Tom Englund von Evergrey, dann wieder an Michael Seifert (u.a. Black Destiny) erinnert. Das Grunzen beherrscht er auch - etwas, dass man im Progressive Power Metal-Bereich nicht so häufig findet.

Wer Lust auf ein originelles und zeitlos gutes Album mit jeder Menge zu entdeckender Details (das Herzstück, "Burning Kingdom" soll als Anspieltipp gereichen, ansonsten ist myspace euer Freund) hat, dem seien diese Kanadier mehr als empfohlen.

The second reason, why with " Lux Aeterna" outstanding the voice of the front man Lee Maines clean-ran (correct, the two lines of far already above guitar-technically mention found). It has times NO hero tenor voice, but a strong, deep mood situation, which remind Michael Seifert (among other things Black Destiny) times of Tom Englund of Evergrey, then. The Grunzen controls it also - something that one does not find progressive power so frequent within the Metal range.

Who desire on an original and timeless good album with each quantity discovering details (the heart, " Burning Kingdom" is as if allude-tap do, otherwise myspace your friend is) has, that is more than recommended these Canadians.
