    Dead End Kings

Stop it scentofdeath. This isn't the place for that and frankly disgusting language doesn't make this place better. Let's just discuss our favorite band. Pros AND cons. As a fan you don't just have to drink the kool-aid

    A serious question...

INRI was a step down from TNR and TPHD but certainly in no way was it a poor album. In fact, it's pretty damn good.

    Download APHOTIC for $5.99 NOW

Good work guys. I always look forward to your stuff. It's obvious you guys put a lot of effort into this one. I've only been able to listen to it a few times but my first impressions (just first impressions, take that as it is) are that it's a step below novella and Pale haunt but on equal...

    Hear HARVEST SCYTHE Tonight!

Hmm well I didn't listen to them back to back and was just going off of what I remember so you're probably right. After all, you're the one playing it so I think you would know. You guys definitely do have a sound, I just found that interesting and it was bugging me trying to figure out why it...

    Hear HARVEST SCYTHE Tonight!

Good work guys. I noticed that the chorus sounded awfully familiar and I realized that it's the same chord progression(as well as the timing in which it's played) and similar vocals as the bridge in Empathy's Greed. Conscious decision?

    Viva Emptiness vs. TGCD

Viva Emptiness. It has a somewhat harsher and noisier sound and I think that creates an oppressive atmosphere. The lyrics are a little suspect but that has never hurt the album for me. The dynamics are also much smoother and less predictable than those in TGCD where it often times was a jarring...

The Great Cold Distance vs. Night is the New Day

Yea I'm not terribly sure either. That was pretty vague on my part but I can't explain why I find the newer material more depressing, it just is to me, so I recognize how poor that attempt was. :)

The Great Cold Distance vs. Night is the New Day

Also the verses in Liberation are some of the best katatonia has ever put out. Shame they're so short in that song

The Great Cold Distance vs. Night is the New Day

While I don't disagree that the older material was emotionally charged, I find it odd that a few of you are actually calling the newer material "less depressive". I actually find the two most recent albums to be the MOST depressing work they've put out. It's less in your face with the sadness...

    Dark Music?

Steve Von till and Scott Kelly's(The wake is fantastic) solo acoustic works are very dark. Neurosis is also dark but I'm sure you've all heard them. Agents of oblivion came up with some haunting works: As did Acid Bath obviously but I'm sure you've all heard them. I think...

    Mark kozelek

Oh and I think "drop" is such a wonderful RHP song, maybe my favorite. Hits me a little too hard to listen to very often though :(

    Mark kozelek

You're welcome isolation! :) And yes RHP is classic, I assumed most of you had already explored that band.

    Mark kozelek

You guys seem like the type of crowd who appreciates good downbeat music. Well the new Sun Kil Moon CD "Admiral Fell Promises" is out and about and I was just wondering what you all thought of it or if you even like that kind of music. I think Katatonia takes some influence from Mark, as...

    Re-record Tonight's Decision

Woah re-mix VE of all albums? Maybe not a popular opinion but the guitar tone on that album is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much. It sounds so aggressive, oppressive and chaotic. Heavy heavy sound, I really liked it and felt it fit in very well.

Guitar track screw up in forsaker???

Yep, all it is is the note clashing with the keys or some other note that is played that second time around that isn't in the first time.
