    Anybody here into Warfare?

Last May, I was watching a YouTube video with a bunch of NWOBHM songs when all of a sudden, I heard this one that was probably the heaviest, nastiest NWOBHM song I'd ever listened to: "This Machine Kills", by a band called Warfare. I looked up information on them, and from what I gleaned, they...

    Songs currently kicking your ass.

So, I was messing around on YouTube looking for...Metallica? Megadeth? I don't remember. But anyways, when I found this one Metallica/Megadeth video, I looked off into the "recommendations" sidebar and found this song, "Escape", by a band called Nemesis. I don't know too much about them other...

What non-metal classic rock bands do you think did "metal" songs?

Actually, I believe the honor belongs to Bitter Creek with "Plastic Thunder": To me, "classic rock" typically encompasses rock from the 60s-80s, which may be a bit ironic nowadays because a couple of classic rock stations in my region play stuff by Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, among others.

What non-metal classic rock bands do you think did "metal" songs?

So, as we know, there are a bunch of songs that - while not necessarily metal - could be considered metal, so I'm curious: what classic rock bands not normally known for doing metal do you think did "metal" songs? For me, one example that comes to mind is Foghat, with their 1974 rendition of...

    Do you like Glam Metal??

I LOVE glam metal! To me, it doesn't matter that it's more "commercial" than other types of metal. As long as I think it rocks, I'll headbang to it.

Agent Steel: speed metal or thrash metal?

One of my favorite old-school metal songs is "Unstoppable Force" by Agent Steel, and for the longest time, I thought they were thrash metal because I discovered them via a YouTube video about thrash metal. However, now I'm seeing quite a few sources that label them as speed metal, so now I'm...

Is it possible for metal to melt your brain?

For years, I've been a metalhead, but it wasn't until last year when the pandemic started that I began to really buy metal albums in any significant quantity. I estimate that since then, I've bought 38 metal albums, and that's not counting the albums I bought to make a box set for my mom for...

Would you consider UFO to be metal?

You know, it's interesting that you should mention that thread because I started that one, too. I just hadn't gotten notified about it in a while.

Would you consider UFO to be metal?

Ever since I heard their song "Doctor Doctor" on Dee Snider's House of Hair a couple of months ago, I've been getting into UFO. They're one of those bands where I listen to enough of their songs and am like "HOW did I not discover these guys before?" I'm curious, though, would anyone here...

    Speakers or headphones?

Interesting thread. It doesn't matter too much, but when I'm driving in my car, I prefer the speakers, but at home, I use my headphones, an old pair of Realistic Nova 40s.

What 70s/80s classic rock bands would you consider metal?

OK, so today, I got Van Halen's debut album in the mail, and it got me thinking: there are various rock bands from the 70s and 80s that people have differing opinions about whether or not they're metal: AC/DC, Van Halen, and so on. Hell, I asked for some classic metal recommendations on a...

Why are many of Black Sabbath's classic hits slower in tempo than newer (late 70s on) metal songs?

OK, so Black Sabbath is widely considered to be the first metal band. However, I've noticed that a lot of their classic hits are slower in tempo than later metal songs. Sure, songs such as "Iron Man" and "Sweet Leaf" have faster sections, and they did do fast songs such as "Paranoid", "Children...

Looking for bands with a classic, NWOBHM or thrash sound

Once again, thanks for all the suggestions! CiG: I've heard of Geddes Axe before. That particular one is one of my favorites!

Looking for bands with a classic, NWOBHM or thrash sound

To Burkhard: OK, I am now officially a Lovebites fan, although I have to say, the last three videos are unavailable for me. Do you have any alternate links? To Podgie: Never heard of Stone, but they sound awesome. The video after that one is unavailable, though. I've heard of Virtue before...
