Honestly, I think he's always been fairly similar in his lyrics and the variety in DT's early days came from Sundin doing a lot of the writing.

I'm personally really impressed by the variety on this album so far. Almost sounds like musically they all call back to slightly different periods or styles from the MDM golden age.

Even Lord Hypnos and Artifacts of the Black Rain have pretty uplifting melodies if you ask me. Plus a lot of stuff on Subterranean.

The happy upbeat lead guitar parts was pretty much pre-R2R IF's whole thing. Not sure why you'd be looking for something different from this group of guys.

Song just came online in Australia and my first impression is holy **** it is good

DotL is much better for me, but the only DT album I ever really got into was The Mind's I. DotL on the other hand is probably my favourite melodeath album in many years.

Funnily, the vocalist Blood Stain Child had on one album (with the song Freedom?) is the closest I think I've ever heard someone sound to Anders' screaming style

I'm really liking the guitar on In The Dark

As an aside, that's the second reference so far to "Mother Time" as opposed to Father Time and Mother Nature. Wonder if that's intentional or just Anders mixing it up.
