As an aside, that's the second reference so far to "Mother Time" as opposed to Father Time and Mother Nature. Wonder if that's intentional or just Anders mixing it up.

Final one - 'In the Dark'
Worst pre-chorus In Flames have ever put out, followed by one of the best choruses!, absolutely fantastic and hits all the right spots for me.
Turns out 'In the Dark' is today's 'V' teaser (you can tell the riff towards the last part of the clip)
Again, I think most people here will hate this but I really dig it! - Cynosure however, has to be my fav of all the three mini leaks so far.

I think any of us who were teenagers back then basically wasted the internet by using it for porn and bullshit like msn messenger, AOL messenger, yahoo messenger and yahoo poolgood times.
Yeah, all of the above. Played a lot of Yahoo pool. I used Napster a little bit but not much. There was a program called Scour that I used sometimes. Limewire, KaZaa, etc. Many viruses.
Cynosure does sound interesting. I was getting a Tool vibe at first (which isn’t a good thing for me personally). I’m kind of surprised a song like this wasn’t released as one of the 300 singles they put out early.

In the Dark sounds a bit like Battles and I, the Mask fucked and this is the offspring.
Never heard of Scour... but yeah, I downloaded significant amounts of early IF from WinMX and Kazaa one song at a time. Moonshield, Jester Script Transfigured and OFTW were sent to me by some girl over AIM. I can remember another girl I knew in the States had a really fast connection compared to me, so I used to ask her to download albums or songs for me, and send them to me directly over AIM as it'd be quicker and more reliable than me doing it myself. Nowadays there's really no such thing... I mean, closest equivilent is WhatsApp and I don't think I've ever sent a full mp3 over that. Everyone has Spotify or something similar, even my gf, who's older than me, is baffled that I still download and store mp3s. Sad times.

I'm a big fan of Dead Eyes from an instrumental standpoint and this illustrates why.
Both samples of Bleeding Out and Cynosure sound pretty meh to me and dangerously close to ITM territory. Reserving judgment until I hear the full songs.
On the other hand, In the Dark sounds very good to me... I said earlier that the snippet of Bleeding Out teased on their IG page sounded a lot like Korn, which kind of works for me because I used to enjoy them and still do to an extent. That prechorus of In the Dark is very Korn.
I was being genuine actually, I love this song and had really big hype. Sorry If u misunderstand it.

The guitar leads in In the Dark are like, literally Scandinavian folk music lmao. As routine as a lot of this sounds to us, I had to take a step back and realize that it's technically as close to classic In Flames melodies as you'll get.
I texted a guy on Instagram who got the album early and asked him to send me a couple of snippets
- super kind of him - I didn't wanna ask for more cause I want at least some of the songs to be a surpriseSo far, so good for me on the three of them. I think Anders' harsh vocals are really hooking me in, every time I've heard them I've felt like this is the most he's growled on a record since the "Big 4". That feels significant to me. If it's reflective of the end product, it might be one of my favourite IF albums.

Cynosure sounds like passenger and that has me so excited as I love that project. The other 2 sound... Okay so far. Slightly dissapointed by in the dark as that's one that based on descriptions I was most looking forward to

Instrumentally I'm liking what I'm hearing from the album so far. The vocal melodies are what have me on the fence. Sometimes they work for me (Meet Your Maker, In the Dark) and sometimes they feel like they make the song a bit too, for lack of a better word, "American" or "SiriusXM Octane" (Bleeding Out, Cynosure). That's what killed Battles and ITM for me -- a lot of the vocal lines sound like the typical soulless shit you hear on hard rock radio. I don't think they had this problem before Battles.
State of Slow Decay's chorus is weird to me. It sounds very generic, but it has the same notes as the main riff of Dark Tranquillity's "Freecard," just arranged differently. If you had a lead guitar playing those vocal lines instead, it would probably work better. I think it's the vocal layering that's bothering me.

Turns out that if you google, you can already find the lyrics to the unreleased songs. They seem legit based on the snippets.
