New album Foregone out February 2023

That makes sense, by the time SOAPF came out I'd already seen them 5 times, and my fandom will still pretty high at that point. I'd seen them go through a lot of different mutations by that point, but SC is where they lost me and never really got me back. With that said, I'd say up until a few...

I enjoyed seeing them back in 2019 - more than I thought I would - but sadly I'm past the days of being the kind of fan that will see them no matter what (in my defence I am 40 next year). I don't even listen to the old stuff much at the moment, although I still enjoy the songs when they...

Oh yeah, I'm not criticising it objectively, just saying that subjectively from my POV that wouldn't be a setlist I'd pay money to see. If it's a bunch of people who are seeing the band for the first time then of course, it makes sense. Still surprised it's only 14 songs though.

Are they the headliners? 14 songs seems like a small amount. Usually from memory they do at least 18 or 19. Maybe setlist.fm is missing some songs, idk. Have to admit that is not a setlist I'd be excited to see. I don't expect really old stuff at this point, but that set is literally "da hitz"...

When I think about DotL/MotU it's a bit like when I think about TJR/Whoracle or Colony/Clayman. Two albums that are similar but different, and both records that I have a lot of love for. I'd probably pick DotL out of the two if I had to choose one, just because I enjoy that it's a little less...

Hah, well just for you I changed it  no mistaking that for a pop group, my friend. I AM VENGEANCE.

I didn't like 'Do or Die' either, nor was I a fan of the other single they released... 'Strong', I think? But yeah, Viral and Archangel were tracks that I thought were a lot of fun in a typical Amaranthe pop-metal kind of way. The overall album turned out to be very meh, though, so that was a...

Just suggests metal as a whole sucks at the moment tbh.

I don't really follow the fan base anymore so idk, but I know in the UK at least they play much smaller venues than they did 10-15 years ago.

I've always considered Come Clarity as their peak as a band, if you're using a venn diagram of commercial success/general popularity/musical excellence. Feels like it was pretty much all downhill from there, although SC was definitely the tipping point from a musical excellence perspective. It's...

Hmmm yeah, that's a lot closer to their self-titled/Nexus sound than I've heard from them in a long time. As you say, it's nothing special - but feels like a shift back towards their earlier sound compared to recent efforts. It's pretty basic in a lot of respects - fairly simplistic riffs and...

There are quite a lot of 'tribute' riffs and melodies in THE tracks that callback to IF & DT. Since these guys were major parts of those bands it doesn't bother me, though.

Yeah that's a nice little instrumental track from DT. Has a bit of a Pink Floyd vibe to it, although who knows if that's what they were going for. We know all of the Swedish MDM bands have major love for 80s rock, pop and metal so it's certainly possible.

New album Foregone out February 2023

They are one of the most inconsistent somewhat popular metal bands to ever exist. It's highly unlikely they will take the next logical step in their musical "evolution", whatever that is meant to be these days. Their post-2000 history provides comprehensive evidence for this. Foregone totally...
