Sound Proofing Practice Room in Basement - Suggestions?

Hey Everybody, I bought a house, it's a colonial(2 story) with a family room on the back of the house. It has a full basement, below grade, with a room built directly under the family room. This was a nice bonus as I thought about building a room so that I could practice at my house, so having...

Mix Room Issue / Muddy Mixes

Terminus, Yeah, I used to have mine at null, but since I had such tinnyness, I did turn the HF down -2db. It helped a little bit, but there's obviously some other issues going on in there. So should the monitors be at ear level between the tweeter and woofer, or at the tweeter? I've seen...

Mix Room Issue / Muddy Mixes

jeid, So you think rearranging so the desk is in front of the window would be better? What about reflections off the glass? How much room between the monitors and the wall/window?

Mix Room Issue / Muddy Mixes

So would you say it's generally better to use headphones in a bedroom-type environment? Suxx cuz i hate wearing headphones, and the monitors would be a waste, but if I can get a better mix, I'll use headphones. Any idea why it would sound ok from the Rokits, but extremely muddy on the 2.1...

Mix Room Issue / Muddy Mixes

Hello all, So, I decided to set up my recording/mixing gear in a spare bedroom on the 2nd level of my house, because these days, I'm just doing my own stuff, and it's mostly digital, and I have a newborn, so I need to be somewhat close by. I'm having an issue though with the how I mix on...

    Slate Trigger Platinum?

So what, your using Drumagog 4, with Slate Samples then? I figured there'd be some tweaking depending on what your doing, etc. I just didn't know what exactly Trigger included, or if there are samples that were better suited for metal, etc. And honestly, I've been busy, so I couldn't tell...

    Slate Trigger Platinum?

Using Drumagog 4 now, but thinking about getting this(seems like it may work better). Can anyone attest to this? Also, what about the samples? Is it worth it to get the Platinum version over the EX? I'm sure the samples sound good, but I didn't see any sound clips on the website, so I'm curious...

    Still having drum editing/Overhead issues

Ok. I originally did edit the drums/cymbals as a group. See, these are the problems I'm having as well. Cymbals don't line up with the drums that they're supposed to. So when edited as a group, cymbals get all screwed up. So how exactly are you supposed to edit everything to be in time, as...

    Still having drum editing/Overhead issues

Hey gang. I'm newer to recording this way(triggered drums, replaced, real overheads). I've been trying to edit this one song for way longer than it should be taking me, and I'm getting fustrated cuz it seems like I can't get it right. I tried slip editing with Reaper, but as I said before, a lot...

How to tell a drummer his drums are all fake..

What lolzgreg said. Tell them thats how a lot of engineers are doing it these days - Just program them in, and to trust you, it'll sound tits. Honestly though, if your upfront and honest with them about how you do it, and they don't agree with it, or don't wanna do it like that, then...

    Slip edit choppiness

I set up the macro in Reaper the same as what Adam explained, (The Drum Split action), so it should be right. And yeah, admittedly, I was only paying attention to what the drums were doing, and not the cymbals. Some of the HiHat parts(particularly during blast) don't match the snare like they're...

    Slip edit choppiness

Allright, so did the slip editing of these drum tracks in Reaper, grouped, used the split & fade macro. After doing that thought, the audio for the overheads, and the hihat tracks are are choppy. Mainly the hihat. Anyone else ever have this problem, and know how to correct it?
