i need names of fantasy metal bands!

You can't beat Gamma Ray for this genre. 2 great guitarists, fast drumming and unusally good lyrics for a German band of this nature. Led by Kai Hansen of early Helloween taking his band in the direction Helloween should have gone which I suspect is why he left to form a new band of his own...

The Bristol gig was awesome. I wasn't expecting to hear the full Underworld album but when Russell announced that they were going to perform it all I was delighted. Although this was the 1st live Symphony X show for me this was what I wanted to hear as I love the new album even more than V...

    Fantasy Band

If you could create your own 5 piece band taking any musician from any band, but only one member connected with any one band, what would be your line up? Mine would be Vocals Russell Allen, Symphony X, needs no explanation here. Guitar Kai Hansen, Gamma Ray, awesome guitarist...

Book of Souls. What an idiot I am. Book of Lies is a track from the excellent Wake The Sleeper album by Uriah Heep. Probably the worst track actually. Seventh Son and Dance of Death are my favourite 2 Maiden albums, but the best track for me comes from Somewhere in Time - Alexander The...

Great post Evileddie. Very Maideny name may I say. I too am new to Symphony X. I've got several albums featuring Russell on vocals so I decided to check out his band and bought V at the beginning of this year. The rest of the albums shortly followed and it's been a fantastic journey as you...

Totally me too. I will be seeing Symphony X live for the 1st time in February and I want to witness Russ belt out those high notes in the flesh. Especially on the track Underworld which, thanks largely to the erratic vocals in the chorus, is undoubtedly one of the best Symphony X tracks of all...

Top 10 Michael Romeo SX solos

Yes it was great fun. But very hard. I can't believe some of the great solos I had to discard. And despite my love of guitar solos this list is surprisingly different to my favourite tracks list.

Top 10 Michael Romeo SX solos

After a lot of hard listening I can finally respond to this question and it hasn't been easy. But I have finally narrowed it down to 13 and sorry, I cannot do better than that, In chronological order cos preferential is impossible Secrets Lady of the Snow Of Sins and Shadows Evolution Wicked...

    2015 Underworld N.A. tour thread

I appreciate that and maybe one day I might be there, but as I mentioned elsewhere all Symphony X is new to me as I bought my !st album only this year (V) and became hooked. Yet to see them live but all that is set to change next year as they have now announced UK dates for February whoop...

Anyone got the new Stratovarious album? It's very good and boasts some superb guitar solos

Really? I think the production is excellent. The guitars and vocals are crystal clear against each other. I haven't got the new Iron Maiden album yet but there are a lot of grumbles regarding the production of this release which surprises me from a band as established as Maiden.

The song "Seven" and it's meaning

I have absolutely no idea what this song is about but it's possibly my favourite Symphony X track. I've always assumed it's called Seven because it's exactly 7 minutes long and they even play a wild 20 second solo at the end as if it's there just for the purpose of taking the song to that...
