What Is The WORST Metal Subgenre?

I enjoy some grindcore too from time to time. Musically I see it as the least pleasant from a 'mainstream' perspective. And I get you on prefering silence, sometimes I need breaks from music to refresh myself.

What Is The WORST Metal Subgenre?

For me it was a tie between thrash and power metal, had to choose power since I enjoy it the least. Objectively it would be grindcore though.

Not a big Death Metal guy ? Explain why

I like me some death metal, but I feel like I have to be in a certain mood to listen to it, which doesn't happen as much as it did in my angsty teenage years.

    Live shows

Hopefully going to see Tiamat on the 30th of October. The show kept getting postponed due to Covid restrictions and now I'm just hoping they won't cancel it for good. It would be the third time I missed them.

    Speakers or headphones?

I have all my music on my laptop, so I obviously used headphones until my awesome set broke... I ordered a wireless speaker, I can't wait to test it!

    Albums currently displeasing your ass

This crap. I don't get why so many black metallers love it. It sounds like some bedroom hipster metal at best.

Non-Metal Bands that metal fans enjoy

I'm thinking goth rock(ish) bands like The Cure. Their synths can get very gloomy doomy, and their earlier albums, as well as Disintegration, are really dark and somber. I'm also thinking of Type O Negative since they're not really that metal but it's very close.

Pick one band and say what you think they're OVERRATED

Black Label Society. Their music is bland and generic as frag, and Zakk Wylde is an ass. Trivium and Parkway drive are in the same boat. Matt Heafy seems like a sweetheart, though.

    Up Tuning Your Instruments

wish you luck. it's nicer with a bass because you can get to make the sounds of a guitar without losing as much low end due to the thicker strings. I'm not that familiar with Deftones so I didn't know that he used a bass on that one. I think it would be fun to see a band with basses only but one...

    Up Tuning Your Instruments

aaaa now I understand. that's a pretty interesting thing to do. btw, what string gauge do you use for these tunings? I'm asking because my strings on my bass can barely go a half step up from standard without becoming as rigid as a metal pole and breaking haha

    Up Tuning Your Instruments

break the norm? do you mean that you have an 8-string guitar and want to experiment with some weird tunings on it, or that you want to be innovative without following the fashion of playing an 8-string?

Do i have a good voice for black metal?

yes! your voice really suits the genre, keep it up man! may I ask what song/ band is that?

    Up Tuning Your Instruments

I have never done this when it comes to writing music, I usually drop but not so much (I never went below c# standard), however I did have to tune my bass up when playing Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden as the song is in drop d#. I'm not that much into alternate tunings anyway, but your approach...
