    Coffee Table Metal

I guess you're not asking for our best of.. list. My "respectable" album list would be in no special order: Agalloch - "The Mantle" Cynic - "Focus" Devin Townsend - "Terria" Enslaved - "Below the lights" King Crimson - "The Power to Believe" Orphaned Land - "Mabool" Negura Bunget - "Om" The...

LotFP: The Shameless is OUT NOW

Well, I have read the whole issue a couple of times. I have enjoyed it very much. Congratulations to everyone involved. The highlights for me were: - Jim initial rant. I was laughing out loud with this: "Who's left? Paid costumers? First of all, I don't need you [...] You help feed my CD...

Random thoughts about Europe, the States, Metal...

Hi all, First of all, I'd like to introduce myself, I'm a 28 year-old guy from Spain. I've been subscribed to LOTFP in the past, and I just subscribed again. I've always loved Jim's rants and incidentally I think we have similar tastes in music. I've been lurking this forum forever but I...

Dave Burns' The Ghosts of Glam Metal Past now online!

I enjoyed the article. I didn't know lots of facts exposed in it. Props to the writer! On a side note, I haven't heard anything from Lamb of God or Shadows Fall, but I really enjoyed Mastodon Leviathan, and I don't understand how it can be considered "commercial" music or music for the masses...

    Power Metal

I agree completely on the Dirk statement, in fact, I was about to post about it... about the touring thing, while I understand what you're saying, that should not be an "excuse"... good songs are good songs whether thought to be played live or not and IMO their inspiration was gone a long time ago

    Power Metal

Rage - Black In Mind ... dark, thrashy. I think you could enjoy it.

    Power Metal

Neither do I, but I couldn't find any originality in those albums. Anyway to each his own. :)

    Power Metal

You have the Hotel California ending solo in a song from Land of the Free... Gods of Deliverance I think

    Power Metal

... and that horrible "manowar" song Heavy Metal Universe. For crappy songs there are enough Manowars out there. Anyway, yes, it was a gross mischaracterization (it was intended to be), but IMO the last three albums lack of new ideas and are full of riffs I've heard from them in the past. In...

    Power Metal

I think Gamma Ray were a good band up until Somewhere Out in Space. I can't stand the last three albums, they are just boring Priest rip-offs. I would recommend Heading For Tomorrow, Land of the Free and Somewhere Out in Space. Other interesting bands/albums would be: -Rage, one of the most...
