    Best contemporary classical soundtracks?

Wojciech Kilar - Bram Stoker's Dracula. One of the most ripped off soundtracks of all time.

    vocal crapness

3)That said, there is no "damage-free" style of extreme vocals. You will have to accept that some harsh vocals will put strain on you. Sorry, but that is just completely false. It's a common misconception spread about, but it's just not true. Not meaning to sound like a prick...

What do you think about young vocalists in metal?

Your voice isn't what I would describe as young, just a tonality that seems to be popular in metal right now. Age is no restriction on tonality. You can listen to someone like John Bush from Armored Saint. When the band started he was in his teens and he still had a thick attack to his tone...

    MXR M80 Bass DI +

A shamefully overlooked pedal is the sansamp VT bass. It doesn't at all do what the Bass Driver does. It's almost like an amp modeler. You can pull a ton of really different tones out of it and it has has a fatter, more thickly voiced distortion that the BDDI. Check out the site and the reviews.

    Shechter guitars, opinions?

The common "too fat" complaint about Schecters is obsolete. Thier recent models all have slimmer necks than they used to. Plus, they just introduced the SLS line which is even slimmer. I find it kind of funny when so many companies are offerred as comparisons and they are all literally the same...

Vocal Producing (Telling the Singer what and how to Sing)

First thing I would do is make sure your ideas actually are better and not just your opinion. Many people want to change someone's performance just because it's not what they what do, and it's not necessarily better than what is already there. Is there anyone you can share your ideas with and...

    Studio One 2

Absolutely in love with this one. Uber stable, fast. My workflow has sped up dramatically. I used Sonar and loved it for years. Never thought I'd leave, but they lost me to this one. Especially since they stole half the Studio one interface for thier X1 software. Bad move as it made me try out...

how to get this bass guitar sound?

This seems pretty simple. I'd be shocked if it wasn't a sansamp bass drive. One clean channel, one dirty. The sansamp has bass and presence knobs to help dial in where you want your distortion to fit. The second track will be simple with some kind of soapbar EMG or something similar. They tend...

Just when you thought voice was a limited instrument

I love it when someone does something with voice just to see what it's capable of. The fact that he even does the feedback at the end is just excellent! http://youtu.be/QxcCC2g1Ke0

    Getting bored of screaming

Thanks Harry. I stay pretty busy, but I stick my head in once in a while. I don't see too many vocal threads, but when I do I chime in if I think I have something relevant to offer. Other than that I read more than I post.

    Getting bored of screaming

Being a Vocal coach, I can usually spot trends early as i'll see my younger students all start requesting sessions of one type or another. Change is definitely coming to metal vocals. I've always encouraged vocalists I work with to expand themselves and become as fluent with thier instrument as...
