Some mixing practice for you - Breaking Benjamin "Diary of Jane"

I tried to get similar to the album in the more rounded guitar tones that it has, while retaining a 'full' mix. Oh also, I'm kinda proud I just used a dry kit from superior and processed that like it was a natural drum kit with no added sample layering. Think it turned out okay.

Some mixing practice for you - Breaking Benjamin "Diary of Jane"

If you record vocals on this and post them raw then I will love you forever. No homo.

    JOEY STURGIS/RISE RECORDS MIX TEST

Maybe if you use it excessively and rely on it to widen your mix, then mono compatibility would be non-existent, yes. But it's like flipping the phase on one of your overhead tracks to make it sound 'wider'. Lots of people do it, and in stereo it sounds great but it's really up to you whether...

    JOEY STURGIS/RISE RECORDS MIX TEST

Cheers :) If you haven't heard of the Haas effect, it started basically from I believe an old analogue delay unit that was broken. It sent back a signal on top of the original one sent that instead of just being a straight, normal, regular delay, actually varied it's delay time just slightly...

    JOEY STURGIS/RISE RECORDS MIX TEST

Here's what I can remember... Guitars: Guitars were Dual tracked and both ran through the same. I believe it was actually Revalver but just with some incredibly heavy EQ going on afterwards to match it somewhat to the new BOO guitar stems. This was all done by ear btw, not Ozone Match EQ or...

Length of time to record one metal song

This is genius. However, I can imagine it building up over time to the point where you're doing way too many free songs for your time, but then ideally by that time I would imagine that as you're getting so many referrals you could just stop telling bands about the referral scheme, and let it...

Practice Time 03 - MISS MAY I -"Apologies are for the weak" Cover (DI tracks inside)

Wow, I wasn't expecting vocals as well! This is awesome!

    Compare those 2 versions

I think B! A is a bit more rounded and although that would sound good for some, I just really like the definition and clarity of B. Anyway, so much for opinions, everyone seems divided :D
