    Love Nile, hate their production?

OP: Your mix sounds noticeably worse to me. I ask this a lot, but what is your monitoring setup?

Exodus - Tempo Of the Damned question for Andy ....

Out of curiosity, what is your monitoring setup? I'm listening on 5" metal woofer 1" silk tweeter diy speakers, which make some recordings sound horrible and some better than I have heard before, and the TOTD guitar tone sounds perfect to me. To me, "edge" is usually around 3k-5k.

Really diggin' the Municipal Waste guitar tone - anyone know more about this?

I like their tone - it sounds a lot like my '80s RG50 with an SD-1, especially the pinches.

I wrote a song intro, and this is my first "all me" on instruments..

If you are on a tight budget but have access to tools you can build high quality monitors on a reasonable budget. I just finished these, and for $180 in parts they compare well to the Behringer Truths (still low end) monitors I previously had: http://www.rjbaudio.com/Microbe/microbe.html

There's potential there, but the new mix still needs some work. The guitars are buried, and sound over gained to me. I realize you're going for a black metal sound, but I think you would have better luck starting with less gain and adding more until you reach the sound in your head on your...

Your mix is insanely bass heavy, what are you monitoring on?

    Rip it apart

I like the guitar tone. The kick seems a little up front, if you back down on it a little it should be easier to fit the bass in.

Encouragement for better sound at one of our establishments

the problem is the room response is different at different locations within the room some high end monitors do what you're talking about, but they are only intended for use by one listener who is always sitting in the same spot

OT: How do you guys find guitar players?

Do you have anything tabbed out you could post here? I live by 51st and the lake and I would like to try to learn a song of yours. All Star Bar and Grill on 47th has $5 dances

Gibson Explorer down tuned to B?

the huge difference is due to differences the height of the action, which affects the force you need to use with your fingers to fret and bend the note but does not affect the tension on the string in an unbent state

Gibson Explorer down tuned to B?

none of those matter, unless you're thinking of scale length headstock and trem angles change the pressure on the headstock on trem gate in front of his amp, gate in the loop, standard to half step down tuning

Gibson Explorer down tuned to B?

you tuned them up a step?

Gibson Explorer down tuned to B?

the tension of the unbent string will always be the same for the same pitch a thicker string takes more force over less distance to bend up a step than a thinner string, thus creating the "tight" feel
