    Awesome Job On New Testament!!!

Oh yeah, I've had this forum for almost 15 years. Used to talk a lot more about stuff here with fans, fellow bass players, anyone who cared to come in and use an "official forum". I owe a lot of thanks to some for certain connections or infos...such as the guy who first showed me the link to...

    Awesome Job On New Testament!!!

Hey thanks guys! Glad that you liked it. It's still awesome to play with a band of this stature and we're playing 3 of the songs from the album live every night on the euro tour. We're planning a big US tour for Apr-May. With a headlining set I'm hoping for more from this new killer album...

Charred Walls of the Damned "The Soulless"

Speck-Tor Euro5 LX http://www.spectorbass.com/euro5lx It's Jason's bass, he insisted I use it. Actually he gave me a choice out of all his basses. Including: 2 Lakelands, 2 Fenders, 2 Warwicks, and another different Spector. This one felt the best and sounded pretty much the best for my playing...

    Gone In April

Yep, Yanic loves that monster Thor Bass...and so do I...!

    Steve! :)

This has always been me. I've had this forum for over 15 years... before facebook; before myspace! It's died out over the past couple of years from Facebook and Twitter being kinda instantaneous, but this is a better way of interacting with comments and discussions. As far as bass levels...

Why didn't Steve play more "jazz metal" ...

Thanks for the compliment!! I was never asked to play in Atheist, pretty sure I would have if they did. I loved Roger's style. But obviously they did perfectly fine with who they recruited after Roger died. For Cynic, no way. Not a good fit. I love their music, I love the guys, still great...

    Video from Chicago show

I'm not sure when he was asked to join or how much he did on his own for prep. But we had no band rehearsals, so the first time I ever jammed with him was right there in that video.

    Video from Chicago show

A rough one indeed. All sorts of monitor and feedback issues all night. Coming full bore out of the gates with that tune with no soundcheck or monitor check...well you can see. But since then we've gotten back to our game, shows are going much better now. Plus Skolnick is retuning to the lineup...

    New Sounds From Esdegy Recording

I know, right...? Hard guess. Friggen Ric sounds awesome. As soon as I'm allowed to, I'll post the song. It's sounding really heavy. This band has not lost any steps, plus...holy crap, Gene is the King...! Awaiting Alex's shredness, and we'll mix it. The idea is to release it for the tour...

Why didn't Suicide Shift work out?

Per and Norm are very good friends, and each amazing drummers. But the project ended up with Jon Allen on drums, which not only made sense but turned out killer obviously. And the chemistry that developed in SS, short of making the album we wanted to, manifested into a cool song we played at a...

    New Sounds From Esdegy Recording

I'm tracking a new Testament song, and using a passive bass. It's been a while since I haven't used active pickups or at least active circuitry. This is a total passive system and I think there are some advantages, but clearly some things I miss with the active sounds. Any thoughts or opinions...

    Question for bassists:

Just curious. How much, in terms of time spent and content concentrated on, practice are you committing to? How regimented are you with exercises or does the stream of consciousness flow? Thanks, SDG

    Testament gear rundown

Here's a shot of the most recently updated pedal board here in Esdegy Recording. I'll be working on the 3rd album for Charred Walls of the Damned this week, and some other interesting music from various places that can't be disclosed yet...
