Next Opeth observation: Jens or SW?

Sure there are a lot of keyboards but its not keyboard driven. They add nuances and atmosphere and some nice "riffs" here and there but its very much a guitar driven band/song.

Hip hop or reggae influences in opeth

I dont expect to hear any of those influences in Opeth, ever. However, I try very hard to be open to all musical genres and hip hop/rap/r&b/reggae etc. etc. all have their merits. A majority of the artists on the top of these genres suck, just like with every style of music. But there are...

I think Opeth has steadily declined since Still Life.

This is true, but only because Tool was signed after only a handful of shows, and it took them what...one full length recording to start playing to on average 20,000 people. Add the fact that this was Los Angeles in the 90s.

I think Opeth has steadily declined since Still Life.

And for the record, is there really only a handful of us that switch between favorite Opeth albums? Listening to one album all the time sounds fucking horrible. There needs to be variety/diversity depending on one's mood. Congrats to Opeth for making it possible to listen to them in all kinds of...

I think Opeth has steadily declined since Still Life.

I would hate to make a comparison between Opeth and another band, especially since many people on this forum may dislike the band...but stay with me and maybe someone can relate to my post. I often compare the growth of Opeth with the growth of Tool. The main difference being that Opeth have...

    Atonement

"The Lotus Eater" is conceptually immaculate; shut the hell up.

I think its just a case of extremes. Reverie over hear almost over analyzes Opeth and describes each of their albums with over the top adjectives as if he's about to start some Opeth revolution. BlueSky or whatever his name is, however, seems to act as if he doesn't see any progression at all...
