You can find SM57 mics at that price all day every day. Go for the 421's!!! I don't think I've seen one on CL under $200. The D6 is a great mic that usually isn't under $140. Wow. I'd jump on that listing.

Massively important step right there. If you find a spot, go introduce yourself to the other businesses in the area. The building/landlord may be cool, but the next door neighbor might have a stick up their ass.

egan's description nailed it. They are harsher than those other mics but they still work very well. Keep in mind a lot of people confuse shitty cymbals for harsh mics. Make sure the source is good first!

If you don't like them, put them on ebay. Or maybe keep an eye out for other mics that you are interested in.

At the end of the day they are still great mics. I've been using them for years. Love them and have used them on tons of instruments.

What he said. The only mics I would ever buy new are ribbon mics. They are more fragile and I don't really trust anybody else with proper handling. The Beyerdynamic m160 is one of my favorite mics and is half the cost of a 121.
