Bruce Dickinson - The Chemical Wedding

I may have a slight preference for "Accident of Birth", but "Chemical Wedding" is a big must-have!! It was surprinsingly heavy, even dark, compared to the previous album, a nice change. Sure, back then Maiden had a bit of a hard time, so Bruce's solo albums shined even more. I think Bruce...

no no no, BAD TIMO TOLKKI no no no no no no no! (new Strato singer)

That a female singer would replace little Timo is not really surprising, as Tolki has hinted it recently, but man, those pictures knocked me down for a minute! This really doesn't seem to square with Strato, but, eh, let's wait and see till she gets integrated into the band. I'm listening to...

    Any Blind Guardian fans here?

 Oh, yes! I discovered BG soon after "Imagination from the other Side" was released, IIRC. I was hooked from the start, but I must say that the band really became big, really wrote their masterpiece with "Nightfall in Middle-Earth". Man, I shiver everytime I hear that one, just like "The...

Do you think Awake was the last good disc of DT?

I can't say I like the question... Awake isn't one of those albums I really remember, so it's not the one I'd have mentioned. And it is awfully unfair to "Scenes from a Memory", which is in my opinion one the best pieces the 90's gave us. The music, the variety of styles, the storytelling... It...

Bruce Dickinson on Ayreon's "Into The BlackHole"

That Bruce's performance is really great, and I also encourage you to listen to the same song played live with Damian Wilson as a singer. It's a very different feel, one of the most moving vocal performances Arjen came up with, I think! It's on the "Live on Earth" CD and DVD. If you don't...

Divine Wings of Tragedy vs. The Odyssey

Both great songs, but there's such magic in Odyssey... As someone already said, it's maybe one of the best songs I heard this side of the 21th century!

    The Paris gig!!

Light! Seems I've been spotted! :p

    The Paris gig!!

Yes there was. It was a French band called Headline. There are well-known here, but totally unknown abroad, I'm afraid. It's an experienced band playing some melodic metal with a female singer. I did not know their music well, but it was quite good and the contact with the public was really nice...

    The Paris gig!!

The Paris gig finished one hour ago, I'm just back home, and man, did it rock!! :hotjump: They played Odyssey from start to finish, and that was enough to make my day... Well, let's start at the beginning. Odyssey aside, the setlist was similar to the one they used last spring...

    Eddie's Archive.... FINALLY!

You lucky dog... I had to pay for it in full! So, any thought? What's your favorite CD in this one? Happy new year, by the way!

What's the best song from the NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING album ?

Mother Russia! Even if this album is not my favorite, I always like it when Maiden does something a little bit out of the ordinary. :)

Vocal Technique - Help please ;)

Great! The PM has just been sent. :)

Vocal Technique - Help please ;)

You're probably right. I don't know how to use head voice and when I sing I definitely don't have the impression the voice "comes from the head". I read the entire thread before posting and found interesting tips. I also wrote a message to get the exercises from Eramaajarvi but she doesn't...

Vocal Technique - Help please ;)

Both, depending on what I'm improvising. Of course if the notes get too high, I have to go down one octave not to strain my throat (obviously I don't have clue one about head voice). Any advice to get started (see previous message)?

    speed picking...tight or loose wrist?

I agree with FrostGiant. I just misused the word "tight" in my reply (sorry for my not-too-good English). So re-read my reply with the light shed for FrostGiant and you should be OK. ;)
