Can we wait for more two Damnation tracks? (expecting Mikael's answer)

One guy had it right. I live in Japan. The price here for any domestic cd costs around 3000 yen (about US$26-$27), while imported cds from America and Europe range anywhere from 1200 yen to 1800 yen (US$10 to $15). The reason the Japanese get the bonus tracks is to encourage them to buy the...

    Limited Edition Deliverance CD

The advance copy that I received in the mail this week has a live version of "Under the Weeping Moon" and a cover of Pantera's "By Demons Be Driven" with a weird jazzy interlude in the middle. I give both tracks 2 thumbs up.

    Live bootlegs?

I have a copy of the live show that they played in Chile last year at the end of the tour. Mikael lost his voice and couldn't sing, so Peter subbed for him. It is pretty hysterical, because Peter has to hunch down really low to reach the microphone, and you can tell that he doesn't know all of...

    Oh...my...God...

At the station at my college back in the States there was a segment that ran late-night and they would play songs ripped from the ROMs of Sega Mastersystem/Genesis and Nintendo/SNES games. Occasionally they would hold contests and award prizes to people who could guess which game a particular...

Submit questions for Opeth interview . . .

Old question that I haven't seen an answer to yet: In "Harvest", what are the words sung over the last repeat of the chorus? Same question about "The Funeral Portrait" during the "And you were just like them all" part. What words are sung over that?

    The Morning Rises

I was listening to Morningrise last summer when I went with my family to the circus. I didn't have any great epiphany like you guys though. I was just trying to distract myself from the scary clowns. I do remember that the cotton candy was stale.

    Opeth covered Metallica's Enter Sandman?

I don't know about Enter Sandman, but they played "The God That Failed" at the Dallas show last year. Mikael messed up on the solo and said "oops" into the microphone - it was really hilarious.

Who thinks Mikael Should get rid of his mustache?

I think Mikael should shave off the mustache, and then hold a contest on the Official website that is set up like a quiz, which questions fans about random Opeth facts. The winner will be randomly selected from all of the contestants who score 100% on the quiz, and their prize will be a free...

    I'm interviewing Mikael

What is Mikael's favorite type of slime? Red, Blue, or Metal? or does he prefer babbles?

    When

I would definately have to say the 3rd demise is my favorite. I'm not too fond of the vocal harmony in the first two, and the 4th one is like a copy of the 3rd one with an extra note. No, those other ones just won't do. The 3rd demise is the best.

Demon of the Fall backwards message?

This thread piqued my interest so I went ahead and extracted the intro from the cd, reversed it, and then separated the left and right channel to individual .mp3 files. The right channel is just some snare hits with something that sounds like slowed bass guitar in the background. The left...

Preview of the new Porcupine Tree

Cool! They borrow an Opeth riff. That little interlude towards the end of the song before the last repeat of the chorus is the same chord progression as the last riff in The Leper Affinity.

    Any Shiina fans?

Yeah, that news flash is from New Years 2001 - I remember reading it a year or so ago. My guess is she is a mother now and retired. J-Pop/Rock stars don't really last a long time these days.

    Mikael Åkerfeldt's English flubs

My lyric-book says "glid". I'm listening to the song right now too and it sounds to me like he says "glid" too.

    Any Shiina fans?

I guess rock! .. but its crazy rock. She throws all kinds of random noises and crazy bass-lines in there. Some songs have noticable jazz influences in them. Its my guess that Shiina Ringo wouldn't be your typical Opeth fanatic's cup of tea, but who knows. Couldn't hurt to download...
