    WHAT'S IN A NAME?

Definitely agreed it's a monumental choice, but as I learned in my previous project, the added issue of getting several individuals (in our case, 4), all with their own set of preconceived notions, to all AGREE on any name that also happens to pass muster on all the aspects you list is not...

Vocalist TIP's and TRICKS from Lance King

Well, the song is from like '91 or '92, so.. *heh heh* Thanks, but no, it is a cover, just a song that wasn't on radio in the US (as far as I know). I love Matti's combination of soul & rock. Kind of like a SERIOSULY less fluffy Michael Bolton/Steve Overland. There are a few singers that sing in...

Even as I asked the question, I was thinking, "ya know, I've never heard him do it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he knows how," which is kind of the way I feel about the whole thing. I don't intend to make a living covering UDO or Grave Digger (or even Anselmo, for that matter0, but I wouldn't...

Vocalist TIP's and TRICKS from Lance King

For what it's worth, it seemed like my question about adding grit/heat/fire to a clean vocal must have triggered some important input in your head, 'cause you're reaction was a quick (I need to reply to this, but it may take more effort & time than I can give it right this second, so hang onto...

Just in case you forgot, or got busy, we're all here and our breath baited.. *heh heh* Hope all is well.

I'll have to review the DVD for more, but what I was talking about was an exercise included in the (warm-up drills CD) which accompanies "Zen of Screaming" pt 1. It involves a 5-note (or is it 7?) passage (I never bothered to see if they're 4ths or 5ths or whatever) where you climb from 1 - 3...

ALWAYS! *heh heh* This is why I enjoyed adding the chorus to Malmsteen's "Fury" (from TRILOGY) to the end of the warm-up. Attempting Boals' range forces me to flip, and I have to do it repeatedly throughout the chorus of that song, but it's methodical & relatively benign, so I think it helps...

Yeah, that's one I've never been tempted to do. Usually, if I feel at all off during warm-up, I tend to pull back a little bit and just try to warm up a little longer..

Must admit this sort of situation has never occurred to me (in the real or figurative sense). But, since I've been warming up with "exercises," and not actual songs, it's not that likely, either.. I usually do sing something for a mic-check instead of the traditional "check, 1, 2," crap...

I finally had a chance to check out some hummingbirds this year.. (my feeders have been very poorly managed this year. Who can I talk to about that? Oh, yeah.. My own dumb ass..) However, some other nature lubbers have done a better job: The rest of the batch can be seen here

Now, goddammit! I KNOW I replied to this Monday. I mean, I remember looking at my post with quotes from your post and all.. WTF? (my only explanation is that perhaps I "previewed" my response and never "posted" it, which is entirely possible considering the way things go for me during work hours...

I have a couple other thoughts that need clarification, but utmost at this instant is that I am on stage tonight for a full show, and wouldn't you know it, I acquired the bassplayer's cold, beginning last night. I'm drinking herbal tea (w/ honey) until my eyes are floating today, but do you have...

Thanks again.. I do know about hydration, however, I'm still fuzzy on exactly how much hydration is optimum. I'm sure it depends on the individual body & metabolism involved. I try to hydrate all day to an extent on show & rehearsal days. Air conditioning is seldom an issue in the places we...
