Maybe they play it different live than in the studio, but in the verses for instance the cover loses the melody.

Here's my take on it. I haven't listened to the original song before mixing, and now that I listen to it, the cover is very different in melody and chord progression. But still, thanks for the multitracks.

Just one. Usually have some kind of console saturation before, but nothing too heavy, I don't like clipping because it takes away the punch.

Cleartones. Sound good, feel good, and can last several months, which is the most important, because I hate restringing.

The kick and snare are way too loud, particularly for an element of the song that isn't the most important, and there's generally not much of a feeling of space or dynamics in the mix, which makes it unpleasant to listen to. Guitars sound mostly good but shrill at times. Could use some more...

The mix feels like it lacks punch and life, though generally good. I like the vocals and how the distortion and reverb stick to them without getting overbearing like most vocals in this genre.
