Hurricane Doro makes landfall in Atlanta Georgia

Doro absolutely killed it at Prog Power! I saw her in 2017 playing all of Triumph and Agony as well. She's an amazing frontwoman. One of the best in the business.

    Top ten list of 2017

    1. Tony Mills - Streets of Chance (Tony returns with a superb hard rock disc with several guest appearances!) 2. Labyrinth - Architecture of a God (I'll be honest, wasn't a fan of these guys before, but this release is stunning. Like Dragonforce writing a classic Queensryche album) 3. Kee of...

The top ten list of 2016

    15. Metal Church - XI (Probably should be higher but I haven't spent enough time with it beyond the 2 singles and one listen-through) 14. Michael Sweet - One-Sided War (Some great songs that would have made the last Stryper album even better) 13. Treat - Ghosts of Graceland (Kind of like proggy...

Good Canadian traditional and thrash/speed metal from the 80's.

Halfway Can, I would highly recommend 2 books if you're into Canadian metal from the 80s. The first is Metal on Ice, which covers everyone from Anvil to Exciter to Helix and many others. The second is Anvil's biography. Chalk full of some astounding stories.

Covers you knew for years before you found out they didn't belong to the band you thought they did.

The song was a really big hit that still gets a lot of airplay on classic rock-type stations in Canada. But in the US, you guys probably only ever hear the Tesla version.

Covers you knew for years before you found out they didn't belong to the band you thought they did.

There are A LOT of covers I wasn't aware of over the years, but two I've been listening to for years that I only just learned were covers are: April Wine - Sign of the Gypsy Queen (Lawrence Hud) Bon Jovi - She Don't Know Me (Fair Warning)

    Accept

Balls to the Wall was such a seminal metal album for me. When I was like 12, I heard that song on House of Hair and it just blew my mind. It took a few years for me to figure out what it was, which I discovered on Fozzy's second album Happenstance. I immediately had to find the original, and...

Good Canadian traditional and thrash/speed metal from the 80's.

From the classic era, Sword, Witchkiller and Deaf Dealer come highly recommended. I'm not going to pimp my own band, but Betrayer are local and they are highly recommended. If you're looking for pure thrash, check out Arkayic Revolt - Maniacal Infestation.

    Think Metal has no culture?

I do an entire metal webseries dedicated to the history and culture of metal. Google Power Metal Point for video evidence that metalheads indeed have a culture :p

    Best Thrash Singer

Jimmy P Brown from Deliverance. His vocals were like Hetfield meets Geoff Tate on the first couple of Deliverance records.

Looking for awesome obscure thrash for "thrash albums of the day"

Arkayic Revolt are (were?) a thrash band from Windsor, ON - where I'm from - and they're a very solid thrash band. Check their song Maniacal Infestation.

What's your favorite sabbath album and.....

Sab - Mob Rules or H&H Zep - IV Megadeth - It depends on the day. Peace Sells, RIP, Countdown, Youth, or newer ones like System and UA.

Looking for awesome obscure thrash for "thrash albums of the day"

Pariah's The Kindred is a personal favorite.

    And Metal Church is back!

I like it! I've only heard the album 1.5 times so far, but it sounds to be somewhere between Blessing and Human Factor, probably leaning toward the latter.
