Epic folk Metal test mix [Wintersun, Eluveitie, Ensiferum style]

I got the keys from the band so i have no idea what they used. I'm doing the best I can to keep them sounding decent but they all seem to have this weird reverb that is just spiking all kinds of annoying frequencies. I spent most of time mixing that out. You have any suggestions?

Epic folk Metal test mix [Wintersun, Eluveitie, Ensiferum style]

This is the first test mix I'm posting for this bands upcoming album Its a ridiculous amount of layers so I need some feedback cause my head is spinning. This is just mixed, not mastered. Feedaback would be greatly appreciated.

    guitar plugin options...

Hello guys So I've been using Podfarm FOREVER to record guitars. I use the VST to get a basic tone while tracking so I can reamp the DI's after. Yesterday for no apparent reason Podfarm decided to not work anymore. The plug in opens but no matter what amp or set up I put on I get no...

    Need some advise...

so quick update. I went in last week to get a first look around the studio. I brought in my tower to hook it up to their interface, etc. I got the interface running and I was even able to open and listen to one of my current project files on reaper. So everything was well up to that point. The...

    Need some advise...

Went to look at the studio and seems like the best option is going to be bringing in my computer and hooking up to their set up. The problem is that the interface they are currently trying to use is an ORION Antalope 32 and it seems to be USB. Is that really going to work? Usb in my experience...

    Need some advise...

I'm guessing so my only requests to the band was that A) I get to do things my way B) I get full credit as producer/engineer. So we'll see how it goes. haha, I'm guessing you are not fond of this particular console. I will keep the AE idea in mind thank you! I'm borrowing my friends...

    Need some advise...

Happy holidays to everyone So I need some words of advise/encouragement if possible. I've always been a one man studio. I produce small local acts in my little tiny basement studio with minimal gear getting pretty good results (i think i least) So this band I produced a while back, the...

    Manipulating guitar tone (Soilwork inside)

Ok so this may be common knowledge but I'd love to get an answer to this I'm love how the guitars sound in this record but my question is @ 2:08, right when the breakdown hits the guitars just suddenly get much more balls to them, like they have a lot more character to what was playing in...

    Reamping with fx pedals?

Quick question. I'm gonna be recording a band that is very heavily into using their pedals. They sound A LOT like Korn so I can see why. They asked me if they would be able to use them in the studio. If possible I'd definitely like to try it. My usual workflow does not include pedals...

FAQ: Live shows with backing tracks - HOW TO?

apologies for bumping such and old thread but i have a question that might be obvious. I just set this up with the Ipod and the mini jack to 1/4 inch jack splitter with the left channel (click track) going to a small mixer for the drummer. The right channel (backing tracks that are supposed to...

My band's new album might be my best work yet.

Band is called Grimus The drums are actually recorded and then resampled...overheads are all real and snare is mostly natural actually (i mixed a room mic in there but thats about it) I struggled a lot with the guitars/bass levels, and to this day i still hear certain parts were i wish I...
