Use a meter that gives you peak and peak hold readings as well as just RMS levels and check that you're not peaking really high. Read; turn your faders down and up the threshold of your limiter a bit and until your snare transients magically reappear..

what do you guys use for metering when you mix and how loud do you mix before you master? I was told a lot of people tend to get the mix peaking at -10db before printing and sending to master. I generally peak higher, like around -6 to -3db in my mix, but I find my snare transients get crushed...

I have a friend who works for Digidesign who has told me that HD is definitely going native in 2010... what with all these new i9 processors its not really surprising!

consider using something like drumagog or aptrigga to layer up other samples on your kicks and snares, so you have the superior kick but also another kick layered up for snap etc. I use aptrigga and I find it's very useful for fattening up the stock superior sounds

My best results for overheads have come from C414B's and U87's, which are both LDC's.. the only exception I've found where I've used SDC's and preferred them to LDC's were I believe B&K 4006's which were omni; gave a very detailed open 'natural' sound

just started using aptrigga to layer samples with the ones in SD2.0 and it makes a world of difference layering your kicks and snares! Makes SD2.0 100% more useable imo. Depending on the sample of course...
