Mesa MKV vs MKIII and Triple Rectifier

All sound good, but on my laptop speakers, I preferred them in this order: 1. Triple Rec 2. Mark III 3. Mark V (Mark 2C+ mode) 4. Mark V (Mark IV mode)

    Best DI Box for guitar?

Generally speaking, for active pickups you want a passive DI and for passive pickups, you want an active DI. I've been really liking the Little Labs Redeye 3D Phantom, which is a passive DI, an active DI, a reamp box and a line splitter in one, but it is not the cheapest option. Aside from...

    Trends or ...?

It's just the marketing push for new products. The other good gear is still good, it's just older and not receiving as much attention from the companies' marketing departments.

    These vids should help.

    High gain amp shootout \m/

All cool, but the 5150/6505 and the rectifier are my favorites. Those two amps have always worked for me and, apparently, still do.

    Production vs Mixing

I agree 100%. The mix will be better if you can track (or print MIDI and reamped DI tracks) it to sound close to what you want from the start. Those giant projects with lots of indecision are abominations that make for a much more difficult, and probably worse sounding, mix.

Any substantial difference between a P -Bass and a J-Bass?

They're different. They feel different and they sound different, so go play both to see which you prefer. Personally, I prefer a P bass with an added J pickup at bridge. It's the best of both worlds, IMO, but you may prefer a J so you really need to try them out before deciding.

Massive studio upgrade - looking for 2ch preamp suggestions

I don't think those, except the Warm or BLA API clone, will give you much beyond what you already have in the RME and Clarett preamps, so I'd probably skip them entirely. For vocals, I like Neve-ish pres (AMS Neve, BAE, Heritage, AML, Great River). For snare or overhead, Neve can be good, but...

Noob Question on Low Pass filter

What is the slope of your low pass filter? A single pole (6dB per octave) filter won't cut as much high end as a double pole (12dB per octave) filter, which won't cut as much as a triple pole (18dB per octave) filter, and so on. See if your plugin allows you to change the slope.

For Reaper users, tell me I'm crazy?

Are you talking about 1. the original edits to the DI track sound fine on the DI, but are audible after the DI tracks are reamped, or 2. you are editing the reamped track after reamping and the new edits are audible? Either way, you can customize the length of the automatic crossfade...

    Looking for a multisampler

It will be much easier to do that in Short Circuit than Resamplomatic IMO, and its free (though I have not tried it on Windows 7 or 10, so I can't guarantee that it works with these operating systems).

    Looking for a multisampler

The king of software samplers is Native Instruments' Kontakt at $399 (it goes on sale twice a year at around $200). For free, Vember Audio's Short Circuit 2 is pretty damn good, though it isn't perfect.

    Bass Amp Sim?

Settle down, man. This place used to have a lot more traffic than it does today. That means you'll have to wait bit longer for responses now than you would have back then. If you need a fast response, try a busier forum (KVR, GearSlutz, your DAW's forum, etc.).
