You need to check out some of the other stuff mentioned in this thread, then. Tool are a good rock band but nowhere near what you're describing, at least for me personally. You should check out the last three ISIS albums if you haven't already.

Really? For me, those records only get played in my car. Awesome music to drive to though, but I've kind of worn them out over the years.

I know I'll catch hell for this, but to me, Opeth will always be Mikael, Peter, Lopez, and Mendez. Those records were the ones that defined the soundtrack to a large part of my life a few years ago. :(

( ) is mostly depressing. A great wintery album. Takk... and the new one are primarily uplifting & happy. Great spring/summer/happy sounding albums. I prefer all three to Agaetis Byrjun. Take your pick.
