Random post and way outdated but it's nice to see how your work has improved over the past few years man, sounds nice

Mix Contest! Money reward and more

You're not really offering a whole lot to be honest. You're offering someone $100 to take a track that's in a hell of a state, no direct mics of the drums or anything. So speculatively somebody has to re-program a convincing drum performance from the stem, then try and salvage the rest hoping...

    Mix/Master Services <24hr Turnaround

I don’t know why saying you can get something back to someone the same day is a good thing. If I was paying for a mix I’d want to know someone had put some decent time into it

August Burns Red - Fault Line - Cover

Way better! I think the only suggestions I'd really have now would be to add some high mids into the overheads (3k-6k) to get some front on those crashes. But the improvements are night and day. Great job!

August Burns Red - Fault Line - Cover

Definitely way too much low end on it. Cymbals are almost inaudible. Sounds like the low end is hitting a bus compressor quite hard and choking out the top end a bit. Kick could do with a bit more punch or high mids/top end. Snare sounds nice but it a little loud, try turning the velocities...

    Mixing Bass like this?

Try separating the bass into different channels. You could use an Ampeg style amp for the main tone, DI for the sub and then mix in something like a darkglass sound for that telephone zingy/string sound. Neural DSP do a darkglass plugin, give it a demo. boost around 750hz and 1.5k for that zingy...

    Help me help my singer

Bit late to the party but lyrics: try writing lyrics phonetically to the melodies that are written. This works far better than cramming poetry into music. All to often there's simply too many lyrics and less is more with them. Tone/notes: it's generally a sign of an inexperienced musician. Ask...

    What happened to this forum?

I think people learned what they could and moved on. Normally the people leaving would have been replaced by new members but they've all been sucked into paid online groups like Nail The Mix etc. There's a wealth of information for free in this forum but I guess marketing works and people feel...

    Superior Drummer 3

I agree with this so far. Not played about with it much but it does sound like a whole library of amazingly recorded late 70's/80's drums which is unfortunately of little use to me right now. There really isn't much in the way off hard, punchy drums that I've found so far. Of course I can use a...

Warning: Tom Argo (Wherewolf) is at it again...

He's still at it. My band "Mutiny Within" was approached by this guy for reviewing for his metal magazine. At first I agreed to giving him a promotional link to the album. This was late December. I stated that he would get his copy no earlier than Feb 1st 2017. He then came back early Jan...

Mutiny Within - New Release 2016

Hey guys. Quite honestly I totally forgot about this forum until recently. As you probably all know things went from bad to worse after Roadrunner, we were financially ruined personally, dropped by our label etc. We managed a release ourselves some time after our parting with Roadrunner and...
