Well, the countdown is on...I could be a father any day now. The crib is set up, the car seat is installed, baby clothes have infiltrated our drawer space, and our Diaper Genie is all ready to go. My wife wants ybabnikufesin out ASAP, but we just have to wait until he decides to come. (Although I hear there are some things I can be doing to help induce labor...

)

So if suddenly I'm not posting as much as I used to, you'll know where I am.

I'll vouch for this one..my son's dad and I got it on big time on Christmas Eve, and sure enough, I woke up in labor Christmas morning, 4 days before my due date..yeah buddy!

So if suddenly I'm not posting as much as I used to, you'll know where I am.

Best of luck to you and efiwnikufesin and ybabnikufesin..be sure to get lots of pics of the little one to share with us once he/she makes his/her debut in the world! Oh, and tell your wife that the best way to get through labor is to try to relax..easier said than done, for sure, but the more she tenses up, the more it'll hurt.

Thanks for the tips! Since both sets of grand-parents are on the other side of the country, I'll be setting up a web site to post pics on a daily basis, which I'll post here when it's up and running.

Some advice

1 Be prepared to be shouted at / hit abused when the labour really digs in.

2 If you can get a tens machine we found it was very good in the early parts of labour.

3 If you get a tens machine adjust it slightly till you get the right level, I move ours onto high (by accident) and she nearly jumped up to the ceiling.

4 be a surportive as possible just grabbing her hand ands stuff while she is pushing helps her and she wil appreciate it afterwards.

5 dont be scared to look, it was amazing seeing the head of my dauughter sticking out, I expected not to be able to look.

But the most important thing is savour every moment, there is nothing in the world as good as being a dad, even though it can be a chore at times.

and Gas and air should do the trick, your wife wont have a clue whats going on, but that is not a bad thing!

The trouble with Pethadine is that it actually prolongs the labour cos it makes you dead sleepy and relaxes the muscles.

A friend on mines wife had a birthing pool and home birth and said that was really good, but not for the first I would say.

I have 1 daughter and 2 stepkids.

I have 3 kids, all big babies (between 8lbs4oz and 9lbs8oz)delivered naturally without any drugs.I have to laugh when I hear women who had epidurals complain about how much it hurt..HAHAHAHA gimme a break!

For the men..an epidural is basically a catheter that they put into your spinal column that administers a drug that relieves the pain..like this: Epidural (just a cross section pic of the back & explanation of an epidural, no gory childbirth pics here LOL)

Hehe, this reminds me. Apparantly, my mum used gas for my birth, only the gas leaked out and just as I came out my dad fainted. I'm told this was because of the gas, not because of me.
