...

I think probably they should concentrate less on playing as complicated as they can and write better songs. I don't care for the genre, though, but when I listen to DF I think "yes, you can play the fucking guitar, now where is the song?"

I like Dying Fetus, but I imagine what many people don't like about them is the strong hardcore influence they have. Their music is very catchy (in terms of death metal) and their songs are filled with slam riffs.

They're generic and everyone just likes them because they're catchy, which tells you something about their weird songwriting style. I just don't really like 'em.

Generic and boring riffwork and cookie monster barking driven basically by rythm - a rythm that sounds like hip hop beats with annoyingly loud double bass abuse thrown in. Probably one of the dumbest bands I've ever heard, I thought it was hilarious when Schmier of Destruction said they were a shit band after a tour.

I remember on that ANUS site, they were slagging them off as rhythm driven death metal for the masses like Cannibal Corpse and Napalm Death. I dont care if they dont like the band but I can hardly call Dying Fetus metal for the masses. They're big in death metal but I doubt mainstream people have even heard of the band.

What are "slam riffs"? Is it bands that use a lot of breakdowns or what.

Yes, Netherton probably likes that hardcore/grind which shows in Misery Index.

I think Dying Fetus are a good example of what death metal should be. I don't listen to death metal to be inspired by the songwriting. I like stuff that's overcomplicated to the mindlowing max, and while Dying Fetus are no Psycroptic, they're okay for what they're trying to do. Fuck Corpse.

You'd be surprised dude. At least here in San Francisco tons of people, from stoners to emo kids, at least know who Dying Fetus is, and will listen to them as their idea of "CRAZY FUCKING DEATH METAL."

Surprisingly, I don't really have anything against Dying Fetus. They're not really my cup of tea or shot of Jack or what have you, but they're good at what they do, and are fun music for playing Halo and other such mayhem-and-explosions video games.

I asked for an intelligent answer. Not the same garbage you shovel out for every band you hate.

Hehe. No offence, but just for fun, lets compare his explanation of why he dosen't like Dying Fetus, to your explanation of why you don't like Immolation:

I think Immolation is kinda gay. Their "evilness" sounds forced and fake, and that bald guitar player is a total fag on stage.

Which do you think is more retarded?

No one asked me for an intelligent answer. Therefore I was able to bitch all I want. :)

EDIT: And Cryptkeeper, since you're never gonna drop that shit about me not liking Immolation, here's my reason for not liking them:

The vocals don't do it for me. His growl is decent but I'm not fond of his style or vocal patterns. Another thing that really turns me off is the drums. They seem to bury the rest of the band (At least on "Close to a World Below") and there are too many unneccesary rolls and fillers. Very talented band, don't get me wrong, but they just don't do it for me. Drop it already man? :err:

"Purification through violence" and "Destroy the opposition" are both qaulity death metal releases that should not go unnoticed. The demos are pretty good as well...I sort of looped them out once Netherton & Talley left.
