1x12 cab

I want to get rid of my mesa boogie 4x12 v30 (too heavy too loud) and get into possibly just a orange 1x12 or mesa thiele 1x12. This would be for recording only (sm57). What are your guys' thoughts on a 1x12 for recording purposes and what would you recommend? (5150 amp)

I'm very interested in this too! Multiple cabs is better, but do 1x12 suck significantly more than 4x12?

1x12" cabs generally sound "smaller"

Not to mention power handling - I'd recommend a 2x12 for that reason, as well as the fact that it gives you the potential for one speaker sounding better than the other
