2 local shows booked in December

Nah, I don't think he would be!!!! Just kidding......
Well, call it an excuse if you will, but me going to shows means leaving the wife and kid home alone, so I don't get to as many shows as I used to.

True story - I gave up getting laid to go to the JJ Kelleys gig last summer!

Paul - In the original post you made about tonights gig, it said TBA for the other bands. I figured I would reply here first for the info.
I later found the site of the venue and posted the link.

Not to be a prick Jason, but making little effort to see a band live who you've expressed interest in auditioning for, doesn't look very good to the band. :/

Sacrifice is a HUGE part of being in a band. Just food for thought, i'm not trying to start any shit.

Paul - I couldn't agree with you more. It is a HUGE sacrifice.
I am not going to take your comments as you trying to pick a fight.
I think you guys know how passionate I am about the band.
I promote the hell out of you guys all over the place (But on and offline).

I was just simply expressing the reason why I can't make every show, esp tonight's which is almost 2 hours away from my house.
(Doesn't mean it's 100% I won't be there, but not a definite).

I have been in many bands myself, and have heard, "When you guys playing next?" Then when a gig is booked, it's "Oh man, I have to shovel the snow, get a haircut, walk the dog, etc..."

It's impossible to please everyone. That's the HUGE difference we've seen between America and Europe. European fans will travel many, many hours to see a band they like, and sleep in a cold train station until 6 AM the next day... But in the states, if you don't play within 20 minutes on a persons house, the bitching starts (and I'm not pointing this at you directly.) There's no support here, so we feel like, why bother playing locally? In our home town, from even our close friends, they make excuses as well. We get better reception playing elsewhere, so the day may come where we abandon local shows unless it's part of a tour, if the turnouts and support don't improve. It's not like we play every other weekend, and expect people to pack in. We play a couple times a YEAR at max, locally.

Sorry to go off on a rant. I'm not the biggest fan of playing local shows for this very reason.

We unfortunately tend to hear more excuses and reasons why people cannot come to support us, than people actually being supportive and showing up at gigs. I'm honestly not pointing the finger at anyone on the forum at all. But regardless, it's a big part of the reason that a.) we don't bother to book many shows, and b.) why we're so touchy about the matter. I have close personal friends who have rarely if ever come out to support ND when we've played regionally, and they'll often ask me when our next show is and so forth, and I can't help but think "Why are you even bothering to ask?" lol

Anyhow as for metalprof's question about the Girls of Metal gig and who the GoM are.....Girls of Metal is an organisation that was put together by a bunch of the local "metal chicks" in the Chicago scene, as a means of doing different fund raisers and benefits for giving towards the Brian Tumor research association, in honor of and in the name of Chuck Schuldiner mainly. They put together a self-funded and arranged calendar that they're releasing soon as a means of raising more money for Cancer research. The profits from this upcoming show goes towards helping that cause, so we're playing for free to help out the cause. People who choose to attend this will not only be helping us out with their support for the bands, but also helping towards the research fundraising as well.

Other bands on that bill are Earthen (feat. Mike from Disinter, our old bassist), Unsolemn, and Morningstar.

So hopefully that fills in you lazy fucks on the info a bit better now hahaha

There is no doubt whatsoever that turnouts for local shows of most bands completely SUCK!
There are many American bands who RARELY play in the states.
I have no doubt that your Euro fans made more sacrifices than most of your American fans have to see you guys play.

I completely understand the frustration and I don't take it personally.

We all love the band VERY much and support the band in anyway we can.

Well, gosh, that was a lot of fun. Thanks for the information, the event sounds like a great cause and I'll do my best to make it. I can see Larry and Paul rolling their eyes now :)

The main ND web page still says "Bands TBA", I checked that before asking here. I only venture to Myspace when absolutely necessary or when a link to a potentially good band takes me there; I can feel my brain cells dying every time I go there. But having been jolted into action I can now point out that show info is prominent at

www.myspace.com/girlsofmetal

Tix are $6, calendars will be $12.

You can also find show info at the Chicago Metal Factory web site once you figure out that the show is sponsored by them

EDIT: I've edited this to point out that at the time of posting, this was my 333rd post. I'm halfway to being evil!! Bwahahahahaha!!!!

Well, we ended up fine of course, but we would have done it. But that's also because the chances were quite big it'd be the only time we'd get to see those bands here (of course I'm craving for more, don't worry ;) ) So I can understand people in the US are suffering from the I'll-Do-It-Later-syndrome, it's also here in Europe.

I'm in Pittsburgh, Pa. I will make every normal attempt( means normal for me) to get there for one of those shows. Make a couple of days out of it, with the topper seeing Novembers Doom. Just a suggestion for those who don't fuckin' live next door to the venue. Not trying to sound like a total "fanboy" but the way I look at it is, the band makes sacrifices to perform, we as fans can drive a few hrs and sleep in strange places and put up with some discomfort. I'm in a wheel-chair and I say if I can do it, so can everyone else.

You rule brother. There needs to be more dedicated fans like you.

The gig went ok, it was no Europe show haha, but it was really fun. We had some "technical issues", but things seemed to shape up nicely(for the most part) after that.

Cool, yea, unfortunately, the midwest has never been a "book them and they will come" kind of scene.

Things are looking good for me coming out on Saturday (keeping my fingers crossed).

I got a guy and his brother from my work probably coming as well!!!
(Found out he is friends with the guys in Dissinter and into black metal. I never would have guessed it!)
