In an effort to get this forum a-shakin' and to get some music to buy with my $300 from a four-day 40 hour warehouse stint (NEVER AGAIN! AGH! WHAT A HORRID HORRID SHITFUCKING JOB) I ask that you shout out some of your favorite releases of 2005. What's tickled your fancy?

Dark Tranquillity's Character is pretty spiffy, though I haven't listened to it as much as some of these others.
Dredg's Catch Without Arms has latched onto my skull and will not let go.
Noumena's Absence is everything I ever wished for from Gothenburg.
Equilibrium's Turis Fratyr has one truly amazingly catchy song (Der Sturm) and just for that you should hear it.
Moonsorrow - Verisäkeet. This is Viking Metal. I love this. Yay.
Masterplan - Aeronautics. Oh Jorn Lande...how I want you...
November's Doom - The Pale Haunt Departure. Sexy American doom metal anyone?
Green Carnation - The Quiet Offspring. A decidedly different turn than what I was expecting but it's still pretty hawt.
Kamelot - The Black Halo. Wow. I never really expected Americans playing power metal to sound this good.
Nettlethrone - Blueprint. Turks gone wild!!! It's just a demo, yet catchy.
Freedom Call - The Circle of Life. Ah, the simple pleasures of German power metal.
Shadow Gallery - Room V. I just discovered this a little while ago. Mike Baker's voice is INSANEEEEE.
To Die For - IV. A guilty goth-rock/metal pleasure...what can I say.

Overkill - ReliXIV wasn't amazing, but it wasn't bad, and their live show, which I saw this year for the first time, blew me away.

Uhh... Yeah, you already mentioned the only other ones I can think of. Room V was great, although Character didn't really do it for me for some reason.

I didn't like character, let me think hmmm... dredg is amazing

Mors Principium Est - The Unborn good melodeath

Dark Suns - Existence not as good as Swanlike, but good prog

Truckfighters - Gravity X damn fine stoner rock

I'm looking foward to Katatonia, Hevein, Kalmah hopefully, Opeth, and whatever else good may come our way.

Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor

its not out yet, but i got the promo off soulseek and its pretty fuckin sick. you jerks should check it out.

Sentenced - The Funeral Album
Pineapple Thief - 10 Stories Down
Aeon Spoke - Above the Buried Cry

All Win

Nevermore sounds promising...

yeah so i wholly agree with neal. in the world of washed up melodeath nevermore whoops ass. it's a lot more catchy than the older stuff i'd heard and i think that helps.

oh, seattle. you finally redeem yourself..

the new Nevermore is the 2nd best metal album i've ever heard, right after Soilwork's A Predator's Portrait.

i don't even know what's been released in 2005.
i think The Uborn was (must be) - by MPE
and "All Dead Here" - by Morgul.

i am lazy, shoot me.

bah.

damn.. I didn't know Dredg has a new cd out. Is it like El Cielo??

It isn't as weird. Lacks the (useless) filler tracks. It's also more accessible and more attention to the vocals. Better production, but not as much variety and complexity

thank you gums :tickled: i wanted to say something like 'ooo it's not the same,' somehow paraphrasing what you told me...but...since I've never heard it I know nothing. NOTHING :erk:

have you heard the two soilwork albums before that one? some folks would say they are about 13809470978 times better than APP.

I wouldn't. Than again I'm not some people for that matter.
