2010 Stinkers

Therion: One of my favourites bands. Personally I consider every Therion album (since the death metal years) is overwhelming. However "Sitha atra" has been totally disappointing for me. Just one hymn: "Hellequin"

Orphaned Land: A very good album, maybe 7,5/10 but the rest of their discography is 9/10 or plus.

Pain Of Salvation: What were they thinking? Trash.

Therion - I've seen lots of bad reviews. The album doesn't flow real well and has some filler. It's not close to being their best work, but I think its got some decent songs.

Orphaned Land - One of my fave albums this year. Right up there with Mabool in my opinion.

Pain of Salvation - I hated Scarsick so much that I haven't bothered with their new album yet.

As someone who calls Nevermore his favorite band I'll have to grind my teeth and agree with you. :(

You know, I have to agree with this. This Godless Endeavor ranks VERY high on my all time list, and I love Nevermore generally. I just didn't really connect with the new one. It's not bad, but I don't know...I actually liked Warrell Dane's solo album better.

Also, with apologies to Bryant, the new Vanden Plas failed to set my world on fire. Christ O was so very good, but the new one just hasn't gotten it's in hooks in me. Like Nevermore, not bad...I just expected to be blown away.

Also, I agree with Ozzy's album being a disappointment, but with no mean sarcasm attached, I didn't expect it to be good. So maybe that is not exactly a, "disappointment." You have to expect something good to be let down.

Interesting commentary.
I love Slough Feg and agree that their new record is probably a shade below their back catalogue. I still enjoy it quite a bit so I cant consider it a stinker!

Same here. I quite like it.

I'd have to agree with that.

Dark Tranquillity: We Are the Void

Sadly forgettable unless referencing it in a thread like ths.

I wouldn't put it on par with "Damage Done" or "Mind's I", but as one (of the likely few) who prefers their last decade of music over their 90's stuff, this wasn't that bad. Nothing earth-shattering, agreed, but still some good tunes...

Can't say anything I've heard this year has been that bad, although in honesty I haven't heard many of the previously mentioned albums here so far...need to get caught up! :erk:
