There's a lot of ignorance in this thread, but like TDD says, it doesn't really have much weight when it comes from the trend-jumpers.
"Gravitas" is one of the best albums I've heard so far this year with "Russian Dolls" being the absolutely top song here.

Just for the record, I'm a big Yes, ELP, King Crimson, Uriah Heep, Atomic Rooster etc fan. In fact, Asia had one of my favorite modern guitarists of all time (Guthrie Govan) - but I think the band itself was always a cheap and failed attempt at trying to commercialize the sound the members were already famous for. Just my opinion of course.

I just didn't feel like re-expressing that opinion at Troll Dreamer Deciever who shitposts all the time and calls out your own bands in offensive and disparaging ways on a constant basis.

I guess you can't see how preconceived you sound here;

1) you talk about how you think the band always was this or that
- I honestly don't care. I never listened to ASIA when they came out originally, as that music was not big at all in Scandinavia back then. For me it's always about what I hear in it, at the time I listen to it. I like what I hear, and that's what matters to me.

2) you talk about how TDD always calls out/talks shit about "your own bands" (I don't know if you're referring to the Intromental bands or the bands on your label?).
- Either way, I don't care! I'm not some hot-tempered youngster who has to prove a point about how "METAL" I am and thus can't appreciate what someone else who has a sound opinion on something not necessarily metal has to say, and I especially don't have a preconceived opinion on who TDD is that'll blur my ability to listen to what he has to say.

The issue here is that you and William, jump in and say that just because something isn't the metal you ready about on the "I'm so true it hurts" forums or the "let's jump on what's the latest metal trend" blogs, then it has to SUCK and only for OLD people. I barely listen to metal these days to begin with - I MUCH prefer pop music (look at my avatar!). A Day To Remember was my album of the year last year. I couldn't give less of a fuck about what isn't or isn't metal - and to be honest, I'll gravitate more to it nowadays if it isn't metal. People who are "true metal" are indeed, among the most ridiculous there can be. I'm not sure how you can assume I ever am one of those - I mean I'll occasionally criticize a record like Nostradamus or a band like Asia for being absurd and bad (which is my opinion, and if you disagree, that's fine) - but that's because I'm judging it against the pedigree of the musicians. I also never make fun of people for their age. I don't care how old you are, nor do I get what difference that makes. Though, I did think the lawnchair pic was funny! Guilty as charged there. I chalk that up to more of a state of mind thing than actual age.

And yes, you should see the shit he writes about Intromental bands on this board. I don't take his garbage seriously because of shit like that. You can have opinions about music, but insulting people for trying to get a band on a tour and trying to get any sort of success in this industry that is continually losing money every year on this board is pretty disgusting.

And my dislike for Asia has nothing to do with insecurity of my masculinity, I assure you. I just think they're pretty awful for my tastes. Then again I'm on the record for thinking that Pain of Salvation is terrible for my tastes too. I like what I like and dislike what I dislike. I thought it was laughable that a metal forum was discussing dubstep at one point. And yeah - other than the fact that I know there are old fogeys on this board that actually like stuff like Winger and Asia and shit probably Journey and Foreigner and all that stuff too...I sometimes am still surprised that there really is love for stuff that to my ears just isn't any good at all.

I may be a metal head who's all into underground and independent music, but a topic about Asia to me is like a topic about Survivor or Europe.
