Here's two records that I have recently picked up on CD one I had on cassette many moons ago, the other I didn't really bother buying when it came out...
Ah the Scorpions, always a band I can't hate, these fellow are class acts & with the exception of maybe Eye II Eye, have delivered a "good" effort everytime...
The two?

Pure Instinct. Remember that one? Well, neither do probably 80% of the casual fans. While this record isn't one that will grab you by the "sac," it is a fantastic
contemporary record. It will grow on you, "Wild Child" sweetness, the bagpipes are a little weird at first, but they work after a number of spins... I also dig "But the Best for You," "Oh Girl," and "You and I" is the radio hit that they needed as the follow up for "Wind of Change." Don't get me wrong, there is some great guitar work, but it's not over done. Check this one out, I'd give it a 7.5...

Face the Heat. I remmeber the first time I heard "Alien Nation," I was like "What the fuck happened here?!" I figured working with that drunken fuck Bruce Fairbairn, was a horrible combination. All I could think of was Bon Jovi?!
Again, like Pure Instinct, this rolls out some great tracks, "Alien Nation" has become one of my favorite tracks. Beats listening to the obvious, c'mon "Blackout" or "Rock You Like A Hurricane?" They are played out! Then there's "No Pain, No Gain," "Under the Same Sun," "Woman," and "Ship of Fools." This one is better than I gave it credit for initially. It's not slick like Crazy World, this in retrospect was a step in the right direction...
Funny how your young ears can fool you and if you come back later in life
you hear it differently? 7.5

A quick note, there was an interview recently on the DIO board of all places with Rudy Schenker. He's stating that Jimmy Bain & Bobby Rondinelli did not play on the Love at First Sting record.... Now he's cliaming that they played on the demos, but after they did a number of gigs, they cam back and scrapped their tracks & Francis & Herman played on real thing...
If you recall, they pulled Don Dokken to record tracks when Klaus lost his voice, he later regained his abilities and Don's services were no longer needed...
