It would be great until anyone touched them... they look fun, but I'd give them a few years after release before doing anything serious with them. Then again, I still backup to CD-Rs and tapes...

Blu Ray will still be the main source of media storage for at least the next 8 years. 50 gigs worth of storage is pretty solid considering how long we got by on DVD and CD before that. Seems the number is 5X in that CD's held 800mb, than DVD's held about 5gb and Blu Rays went up to 10X that with 50, and this is promising 500.... so it seems the next media source needs to be at LEAST 5X bigger to compete... so it could be BD's eventual replacement.

Haha cool, I thought about this kind of technology some years ago. Hadn't heard about it at the time I was thinking about storing 1s and 0s 3-Dimensionally, and it's cool to see that this is being developed now. The original idea already sprung up at the 1960s the article says... that's pretty awesome.
