5150 clip with pedals..

i got 3 pedals for xmas and i finally got around to making a clip. The guits are

LTD Mh300 with emgs->bad monkey->vox clyde mccoy->5150 combo->sm57 into maudio mobile pre

the bass is an Ibanez sr475->mxr dynacomp->mobile pre

the drums are sneap samples in reason.
i'm not too happy with the rhythm tone, i've had better.

the whole mix sounds a little dull to me, i recorded the track into nuendo, and ran it through my master bus/mastering chain. sounds brighter and more even now, imo. Also the drums need to be higher in the mix i feel.

guitars sound mushy.

I bet if you point the mic more on axis and towards center of the cone.....it could help.

aye they do still kinda sound mushy, needs a ts-9 in front of it as well

good ear, i miked it way off axis. i used it like that to cover carcass, and it has a nice sponginess to it, but i guess it doesn't work for everything.

it wouldn't be that bad if you had another mic on axis and centered in addition with what ya got, and blend it to taste.
