Just because the set in the mkI is newer, doesn't mean that they aren't bad.

AWARE. Both amps had EH12AX7's in them and I was selling the mkII. Actual play time on both sets was unknown so I kept the set with the 05-06 date code over the 01-02 date code. I figured I had the best odds this way.

Nah I'm more into stuff like the Uberschall, Mesa Mark Series, Diezels, etc...The SLO100 sounds better than either the 5150 or Dual Recto to me, its just more "crisp" sounding.

UPDATE: Bought a 14G SPEAKER cable, Rearranged teh preamp tubes, put all 4 power tubes back in, and put the impedance back at 16ohm. Fuzz sound is gone and the amp is sounding better than ever! Fuck that 60w nonsense.

Having two of the tubes removed didn't cause that. Actually I think I know what you mean by the tone sounding like shit, when you pulled two of the tubes out you didn't half the impedance selector switch on the amp? There is your problem right there.
