I know this is a metal forum but I thought even the most deathly of metallers would appreciate this.
I'm not really looking for much feedback, I just wanted to share this amazing piece of music. I've only been recording for 6 months so I know this doesn't stand up to other recordings of this genre but its obvious the group are immensely talented. They actually work as Lay Clerks in the choir at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle! They probably listen to Mastodon with the Queen all the time...
I could only work with what mics I have so I used a matched pair of Nuemann KM184s in ORTF with an SM81 in the middle, a little like a decca tree I guess. Very gentle EQ, mainly boosting some lows. Some de-essing, although its still very sibilant and mild compression on the sm81 only. Used a very slow limiter to bring everything up a touch.
A great piece, expertly performed, I just wish I could have made it sound as good as it deserves! Enjoy!
