60s/70s cover songs?

Amorphis, "Levitation" (Hawkwind)
Therion, "Summernight City" (ABBA)
Godhead, "Eleanor Rigby" (the bugs.....the insects...it's something like that :))
H.I.M., "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" (Soft White Underbelly...oh, wait, BOC)
Between the Buried And Me, "Bicycle Race," "Three Of A Perfect Pair" (although I'm told that's 80s, it should be 70s :))

Here are some of my favorites:

Agent Steel--Beyond The Realms Of Death (Judas Priest)
Dokken--From The Beginning (Emerson, Lake, And Palmer)
Dokken--Nowhere Man (The Beatles)
Dokken--One (Three Dog Night)
Dokken--Heart Full Of Soul (The Yardbirds)
Eidolon--Hole In The Sky (Black Sabbath)
Hammerfall--Detroit Rock City (Kiss)
Glenn Hughes--Freedom (Jimi Hendrix)
Lizzy Borden--Generation Landslide (Alice Cooper)
Lizzy Borden--(This Ain't) The Summer Of Love (Blue Oyster Cult)
Mrs. Hippie--I Want You (Kiss)
Steve Vai--Celluloid Heroes (The Kinks)

I think everyone else mentioned any of the other covers I would have posted.

Stay metal. Never rust.
Albert

Firewind- Pictured Life (Scorpions)
Mundanus Imperium- Stargazer (Rainbow)
At Vance- Money, Money, Money (Abba). Logical Song (Supertramp). Desperado (Eagles).

Marilyn Manson - "Highway to Hell"

Huh? When was this? Seems just way too fucked up to believe...

...okay found and omg, I'm sorry but that's really bad. I'm a big fan of Manson covers usually, but it's like he did his own song and decided to put "Highway to Hell" lyrics in there for the hell of it that do not work what so ever with the music.

Vicious Rumors - Paint It Black (Rolling Stones) - An awesome cover done with the great Carl Albert on vocals.

Helstar - He's A Woman, She's A Man (Scorpions)

John Norum - Opium Trail (Thin Lizzy)

Leatherwolf - Bad Moon Rising (CCR)

TT Quick - Fortunate Son (CCR)

Saxon - Ride Like The Wind (Christopher Cross)

Rush - Feedback (album of '60s/'70s covers)

Reverend-- Fortunate Son

One of my fave...and they also covered Sab's Hand Of Doom...

Another one of my faves is TOC's version of Smoke On The Water.

Some notables not mentioned so far...

WASP -- Easy Livin'
Lizzy Borden -- Born To Be Wild
Lizzy Borden -- White Rabbit
Riot -- Whiter Shade Of Pale

Rock on!

some may have been mentioned, but maybe not all:

Wolf - Don't Fear The Reaper
WASP - Mississippi Queen
Gothic Knights - Hungry Like The Wolf and The Ripper
Gotthard - Mighty Quinn and Come Together
Jack Frost - Cold As Ice
Sebastian Bach - Back In The Saddle
Talas - Stop In The Name Of Love
Anthrax - Cowboy Song
CJSS - Communication Breakdown
Iron Savior - This Flight Tonight
Jag Panzer - In A Gadda Da Vida
Masterplan - Black Dog

As mentioned there are bands that have made whole albums of covers and done a good job of capturing the original.

*These include Great White with The Final Cuts album and Great Zeppelin album. Not to mention numerous Who covers, R&B classics but most notably the songs Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople) and Face The Day (The Angels – technically the original was released in 1980).
*Tesla’s Real to Reel (boring but authentic)
*Transatantic covers (competent but nothing special)

But the following are the bands that took the song to a new height or truly made it their own:

*Whitesnake – Mistreated (Deep Purple – of course it helps to have the original vocalist)
*Whitesnake – Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City (first recorded by Bobby "Blue" Bland for the album Dreamer)
*Saxon – Set Me Free (Sweet)
*Rod Stewart – To Love Somebody (‘60’s Bee Gees)
*Lion’s Share – The Day The Earth Caught Fire (City Boy)
*HSAS – Whiter Shade Of Pale (Cream)
*Gary Hoey – Hocus Pocus (Focus)
*Heart – Rock And Roll live (Led Zepplin)
*Heart – Tell It Like It Is (first recorded by Aaron Neville in 1966)
*Heart – Without You (Badfinger)
*Molly Hatchet – Dreams I’ll Never See (Allman Brothers)
*Nickelback – We Will Rock You (Queen)
*Def Leppard – Action (Sweet)
*Pat Benatar – Helter Skelter (Beatles)

I don't know if most of these really are in our genre except for Saxon and Lion's Share, to a certain extent Leppard and Whitesnake I suppose. But say it isn't so, Nickelback did "We Will Rock You"? I feel like vomiting. That's not something I will even attempt due to my disdain of Nickelback already, not to mention my admiration for Queen.
