i know we're in trouble when the infernal landlord is showing the place and i can hear the kid running apeshit all over the place ALREADY

Yep, not good. my sister used to live in a condo with a 275+lb guy living upstairs and never heard him. His girlfriend moved in who was ultra skinny and you could hear every step she took. Then he moved out, and a couple with a 7-yr old boy moved in and all the kid did was shout and bounce a ball in their kitchen- THAT she heard quite well. They complained about my sister playing the piano, and she moved in a few months.

At my last apt. I used to wake up to mariachi music every morning from next door, downstairs, and pretty much every other direction.

i always hear the sounds of partying, loud music, and the moving of furniture every weekend in the apt. above me. i guess they redecorate their house every weekend and invite their friends.

kids as neighbors are actually okay. i find it relaxing. like, i hear the kids upstairs going totally insane and i think 'wow, today is so calm FOR ME... sucks to be a mom today!'
