A Clockwork Orange.

He's a good writer, but he's nothing special when it comes to directing. Not even in the same leauge as Stanley Kubrick.

Sheeit! I tried hard to resist but....well....I couldn't in the end. Please go back to the post to which xeno replied and have a second look. If you're gonna quote people you really need to keep it in context. The only comment xeno made about Kevin Smith was that he's "a brilliant guy". Never compared him to Stanley Kubrik in any way. Merely questioned the relevance of Kevin Smith to ANYTHING to do with "Clockwork Orange". I too am somewhat bemused actually!

Hmmm and ironically Clerks and Clockwork Orange are my two favorite movies of all time! :)
I can also recall the first time I saw Clockwork. I've never laughed so hard before in my life and never thought I would see a death scene where a woman is killed by a giant ceramic penis! :D

Well, I never said he was a brilliant director. It's his writing, especially his dialoge and narrative skills that I like best from him.... I was just making a comment, on why was he even mentioned in this thread about Clockwork Orange/Kubrick...

To be completely honest, I never thought Stanley Kubrick was "brilliant". He's had his share of flops as well. Definitely not a Tarintino, Fincher or Speilberg, IMO...

Ok, this goes a bit off-topic, but do you mean Spielberg hasn't had his share of flops? Hook, Amistad? And even though A.I. and Jurassic Park weren't financially flops, IMO as movies they're not too good (JP has nice effects for it's time, the movie itself is below average, and AI was good, but the ending ruined the whole movie).

Got to agree with you on Fincher though. Not a single bad movie from that man.

THIS GUY DID IT!!! :D He brought up Kevin Smith, but it looks like for no reason! Oh well.

Honestly I don't see how someone can compare Speilberg to Kubrick. One is for the thinking person, one is for the flashy shiny object chasing person. Well, I liked Indiana Jones I guess.

I finalllly saw A Clockwork Orange a few weeks ago after wanting to see it for a long time. I was really impressed with the movie and the subject matter that was introduced considering the film is 30 or so years old. Kubrick is brilliant. I cannot ever seem to finish Dr. Strangelove, though. I always fall asleep...that's what I get for staying up incredibly late and deciding to watch movies in a delirious state. ;)
