Can't you take a joke servers many purposes.

a) If a person posts something risky, and people react negatively, saying it's a joke makes it seem as if the people reacting negatively are the dumb ones

b) When a person realizes that what they've said is stupid, saying "can't you take a joke?" is a quick evaise maneuver to remove any stupidity from said person

c) Uhh... can't you take a joke?

one of my few remaining friends (from when I went to a school that didn't actually suck shit completely) that I still keep contact with loves Zao. His msn name is even Zao ... cept with a zero.
