Cheers man, glad it gave you chills!
Eric my man, we meet again!
For synths on this one:
- Omnisphere (arps, strings, choirs).
- Orchestral Essentials.
- Symphobia 2.
- Absynth 5 (arps and ambient sounds).
As far as composing goes.. i have had about 10 tries before this came out of out my speakers.
So for me personally, its all about trying and if it sucks or just not there, try again!
I try to crawl behind my keyboard or guitar and just start using chords in a certain order, whilst doing that trying to think of what "theme" a song will contain.
That can take a day or two, i try to feed inspiration with movies and music.. i wish i did drugs lol.. would make it all easier.
So i start out with what i think can be a chorus line or a decent verse.. after that i start building around that part once it sounds decent enough.. again, trial and error!
Theory kicks in at the same time as well.. most of the time i want to avoid the standard "verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus x2". So sometimes you need to switch things up if needed.
I do not study music, maybe i should.. but so far it's all just based on chord progression and just playing what sounds right in your head!
Hope this helps a bit man, it's so hard to write down the exact process as it differs from time to time.
