It has to be emphasized that Rush are extremely Artistic, and also Academic. Academic in a sense that they can start you down a path to literature and other subjects. For an example, the Rush song called ` entre nous` ( which is a French term meaning `between us`), it has very strong similarities with a Poem by the Sixteenth Century English poet called John Donne. John Donne wrote a Poem called ` No man is an Island`. Here is the Poem below :-

'No Man is an Island'
No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,

In my opinion, when I read the John Donne Poem one day, I immediately thought of Pearts lyrics on this song. I am convinced he based them on this. Also as a note, notice the `For whom the bell tolls` line, which clearlty Hemmingway `borrowed` from.
Rush music is filled with such gems of inspiration and learning and wonder.

Entre Nous is such a fucking awesome song.

Really been jamming the shit out of these two lately. Hold Your Fire is probably the most underrated Rush record aside from Tai Shan being on it. It's one of like 5 Rush songs I skip when they come on.

Both good albums. Hold Your Fire was the one album from them I found myself reaching for the least for the longest time but I recently went back to it a few times and like it with each listen. There are some songs that sound just sort of "there", but there's also stuff like "Time Stand Still" and "Second Nature", the later is one of their most underrated songs and really quite beautiful. I find the album as a whole to be rather soothing actually. Even the more uptempo songs have a relaxing quality to them. Its a nice album to just put on and zone out too.

Presto is another solid album. An interesting "bridge" album that's sort of stuck between two worlds, not quite out of the realm occupied by keyboard era albums but still not fully back to the more guitar based heaviness perfected on Counterparts. You could basically say the same thing about Roll the Bones as well. There are some real crisp melodies on Presto. I'm especially fond of "Show Don't Tell" (the keys during the second half of this song in particular are used to perfection), "The Pass" and the title track. And again, this is another album I find soothing in a lot of places.

I would say 75% of Hold Your Fire is solid. Counterparts is a fucking amazing Rush release and their best release since Grace Under Pressure imo
