im planning on buying either an epiphone goth flying v or the epiphone wayne static goth flying v version...i also plan to get an emg81 installed in the bridge position(cuz i want a more bassy tone)...i actualy prefer the normal goth version over the wayne static version but i dont think the emg81 can be installed on the normal goth version cuz it got no cavity at the back...is there any way i can get them installed on the normal goth version though? and do you have any comments, ideas, or suggestions on my plan? thanx...

Yes, it goes under the pickguard (There is a cavity underneath).

You want an EMG 85

hmm yea i thought about that...but using the cavity under the pickguard mite be a headache cuz part of the bridge and the knobs and pickup switch are on it, so it would be a hassle everytime i wanna switch batteries...ill think about it though

ill definitely install the emg85 in the bridge, thanx

Hmm, yeah, why not go with a Dimarzio X2N, i;ve never used one, but heard it is as pwoerful as an EMG, but passive

He's right, the 81 is a bit on the bright side. It works well on bassy woods like mahogany, for example. If you want a darker tone, the 85 would be a better choice, IMHO. And don't worry about the battery thing, you will only need to change it two times each year at most and it's no big deal at all.

they will fit in epi v's. It fit in mine.

how exactly do you go about replacing batteries? is there any easy way, for example, just unscrewing the top two screws of the pickguard, bending it up, and doing the replacement?

just by taking the whole thing apart. you should only have to do it once a year or so. so its not that bad.
