A question from a newbie

that's all

I also felt the need to clarify she was a woman. Furthermore, I even clarified she was young (smells like age discrimination! :) ) I could have of course said "It's a sad thing to see a human losing their life", and it would have been just as true. I did not think twice of 'white', nor 'woman' nor 'young'.

It is funny though how that one word got the attention even if nothing sinister was behind it, and a valid lesson for me of the cultural differences between countries. Someone's innocent word is someone's taboo word.

This guy Gneral8 is from the Mikeportnoy.com message boards, and he pulls the same "I make racist comments subtlely, but I am not a racist" shtik there too...In fact he was warned by the moderators many times. He talk people around in circles, and plays with peoples heads. Dont fall for his bullshit, like I said Ive seen him do this shit ALOT in the Portnoy forums. Also, when I used to post there alot, someone pointed out his signature is some type of pro white acronym with the !8! I cant remember exactly...But if Brooks comes by and sees this, he can further calrify what Im talking about. Whether this guy is really a racist or not, I dunno, for all I know he likes fucking with peoples heads like this, he makes subtle racist comments, and covers it up with false intellectualism. And it wouldnt suprise me if they finally banned him over at Mp.com

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!

as you see...

:D

Dude, your reasons for saying "White" were shit. There is no possible reason for you to mention that she was white (When in fact you have no idea, she could have been a purple smartie for all YOU know).

There WAS reason to mention that she was young, for it really is sad to see a young person die. And the "female" thing i would have said myself, wouldn't have thought twice about it.

The fact that you singled out the world "White" is as if trying to provoke something, and you got it dude, i'm not going to stand for white-power bullshit, even subtlely, because it is all ASS, total bullshit, you don't know WHAT nationality, nor descendency any of us are, and the fact you come here and make a point of saying that? Man that pisses me off.

well the age thing is quite different....because you were talking about how it's sad that she died young...as opposed to someone who was able to live a long life...that's completely normal when talking about someone's death...usually it's considered more tragic when someone dies young, and that's not age discrimination...it's just that they weren't given as much time and opportunity to accomplish as much..not that young people are 'better'...
but it's not usually considered more tragic if the person was white...am i right? you don't usually hear 'and so-and-so died today, tragically only 18 years old and white...'
the white part was completely irrelevant but the age part wasn't

and as far as the 'woman' thing...that pretty much goes with the 'white' thing...people just happened to pick up on the white thing more i guess...not sure why it fascinates you so much

but i'm not gonna argue with you, i have a feeling it'd be pointless
especially after reading Thorns of Sorrow's post

Picked more on the white thing? No, you don't understand. They did not pick on the 'woman' thing at all and yes it fascinates me. I wrote both without thinking about them, they were just some words that described her. She was after all white and a woman. Analyzed logically both attributes are quite irrelevant to the fact that her death was tragic, but in that short sentence I also summed up all that I knew about her - which was quite little.

Like I said, it's an interesting cultural phenomenon that in some parts of the world the sex and race are seen in such a different light, even as human's 'worth' is not dependent on either. It would be interesting to analyze why this differentiation exists. Is it because in that country feminists have failed to raise awareness of sex equality as well as the minority groups of racial equality, or is there some other reason for it? God knows there's lots to do even today in many parts of the world to make women truly equal. I'm interested mostly in the people who are not living in 3rd world countries, I know 3rd world countries have lots to better in both regards.

Oh and Thorns, your rant was quite strange and I hope you don't really think of me like that. By the way I was never banned from Mike Portnoy's forum, for my reasons for not contributing much see here:

i didnt read all of this.. but.. imo ..if he put the word 'white' in there ..it was for a reason .. and fuck all to any explanation otherwise..heh.. but.. what of i guess .. right? .. people are programed at young ages that feel that way.. or.. grew up in an area where there was a need to group together against another race.. whatever the case.. a person can not be changed by pointing out the fact that he is or isnt a racist..

yeah, he isnt fuckin with anyones minds around here. HE is a jerk off.

I could say more, as most of you know, but im not right now, i have nt the time to torment this fellow this early in the week.
